F1 22 is another super solid entry in Codemasters' superlative run of racers. There may not be any really pressing reason to pick this one up if you own last year's game, but besides a lack of new ways to play and an F1 Life mode that's all a bit pointless in the end, this is still the pinnacle of F1 video game action that fans of the sport will no doubt be enjoying until F1 23 drops.
The gaming equivalent of being asked to buy the paint protection.

F1 22 isn't going to blow your mind with its new features, especially when it comes to F1 Life. It does offer some compelling, fast-paced racing backed by some great Career modes, tracks. and presentation Familiar as it may be, it's still the definitive way to experience Formula 1 racing in video games.
For Formula One fans, it’s easier than ever to recommend the yearly F1 video game. Significant changes have been made here to not only keep the game up to date, but also more immersive, more expansive and more fun. The only real disappointment is F1 Life, which feels a like a good idea in principle but very poorly executed. And of course, the lack of a story mode will be a let-down to some, too. Ultimately, F1 22 takes a couple of steps forward and couple back, but where it matters – the core gameplay and the stellar career mode – it’s still very much at the front of the pack.

F1 22 is very continuous with respect to its predecessor, despite the change of regulations that occurred in Formula 1, but, even so, it is very competitive on the track and its virtual races faithfully recreate the duels that Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes are starring in reality.

With F1 22, the developers allow you to take the simulation aspect as deep as possible, or if you’re a newcomer, ease your way into it. Regardless of your approach, the difference in difficulty and accessibility is noticeable without losing fun and excitement. Whether you’re a die-hard F1 racing fan or just looking to get into the sport and have some digital fun, F1 22 deserves a spot in your rotation, and it will take a heck of a game to knock it out.
And yet for all that there's a nagging sense of overfamiliarity, of running the same races in slightly more bloated cars in what's now a slightly more bloated game. F1 22 is a remarkably broad game too, it should be pointed out - one that can be enjoyed by the growing audience the sport now enjoys. It's a remarkably familiar one too, mind, that through no fault of its own never really feels like the measure of last year's model - a predicament the sport finds itself in now, as it struggles to match the fireworks and fury of the classic that was the 2021 season. In that way, perhaps F1 22 is a little too authentic for its own good.
F1 22 brings a whole suite of improvements to what was already a very good series, and I look forward to it consuming my life for the next few months.
F1 22 can fall back on a solid foundation that Codemasters has further developed. The career modes are like a house and there is also plenty to do online. With the new options, a Grand Prix also feels a bit more realistic, especially if you put on VR glasses. So F1 22 is certainly not the revolution players might have hoped for, but for Formula 1 fans there's plenty to keep you entertained this year.

F1 22 is a playable delight that perfectly conveys the regulatory changes of the 2022 Formula One season. But, on the other hand, it loses the Braking Point mode in exchange for including Vida F1 and the Supercars, which end up being excuses for microtransactions and mere playable anecdotes.

Porpoising aside, Codemasters has done a good job of reproducing the regulation change that revolutionized the world of F1. Fun to play, impressive to watch, F1 22 stands out for an above-average AI and a driving model that perfectly sums up the concept of simcade.

F1 22 is still a champion in its category. The Codemasters series does not have too many rivals, but it does not boil down to the laziness of the creators, because every year they offer fans of the queen of motorsport a lot of thoughtful novelties.

F1 22 is the best game in the series, but not by a distance. The improved handling and supercar challenges are cancelled out by the lack of a story mode and the superfluous new F1 Life mode, making for a game that gives as much as it takes away.
A fine entry to the popular F1 series, F1 22 brings some new things to the table, but suffers from control issues and a lack of things to do.
With the new gameplay physics, reworked handling and updated tyre models, combined with the updated track layouts (Spain, Australia, Abu Dhabi) and the new Miami circuit, F1 22 feels like the most realistic Formula 1 game to date. The addition of VR, refreshed audio and tons of small tweaks make this one of the most immersive F1 games ever and even hardcore F1 fans won't be disappointed.
F1 22 builds upon a successful framework and only improves a winning formula. While there are still elements of the game that are lacking in depth, Codemasters has managed to make the fast-paced gameplay satisfying enough to leave you craving one more race.
F1 2022 marks a brilliant effort from EA and Codemasters to grapple with an all-new set of regulations. The driving feels responsive with an all-new physics engine that ekes out every ounce of realism in an incredibly detailed package. While Braking Point may be absent, F1 2022 is still jam-packed with a great set of modes and features that beginners and pros are sure to enjoy.
While the new F1 Life hub and the addition of supercars are no substitute for last year's story mode or 2020's classic cars, F1 22 is nonetheless another superlative Formula One game, and a damn fine racing experience in its own right.
F1 22 continues the good work seen with F1 2021, introducing several improvements to the game's physics system while making the whole experience even more accessible for newcomers to the genre. It's not a revolution, but Codemasters' will seems to be to further improve year after year, trying to experiment with something new like the super cars, which even if they don't offer any particular changes, they still manage to provide something new to the game structure.
