With exciting new developments in the sport F1 22 has done well to keep up with the rules and regulations as well as giving players plenty of options to play with off the grid. If you’re intimately familiar with some of the quality of life changes introduced in F1 21,then the latest addition will give existing players plenty to look forward to and newcomers can comfortably settle into the seat before taking on more complex maneuvers and adjustments in their own time.
Codemasters put more focus on graphics and presentation into F1 22, adding style to the substance. Make no mistake though, the core gameplay and racing is perfectly preserved and updated as it should be. The F1 Life mode is underwhelming and largely superficial, but it does flesh out the overall experience of the game to not make it as stiff, backed up by the EA Trax soundtrack. It has a few bugs and foibles, but none of them hold it back from greatness. The new rules put in place make racing these incredible machines more exhilarating. F1 22 is a masterclass in simulation, and one of the finest racing games that’s a must play.
Whether you're new to the series, or someone who has spent hours and hours perfecting your craft, F1 22 is still the best way to bring Formula 1 action to your own home. While we'd have liked some fresh ideas outside of F1 Life's window dressing, we're excited to see where the franchise goes from here.
All in all, F1 22 sets out to achieve various noble objectives, but not everything performs quite as well as intended. The revolutionized cars feel like they should, the new broadcast options and extra accessibility settings allow for a more approachable presentation, and the sheer amount of game modes and content that we'd expect from a Codemasters Formula 1 racer makes this an easy-to-recommend buy for Formula 1 fans.
Overall, F1 22 is another high quality simulation of the motorsport, with great handling and detailed, engrossing career modes. While the presentation is strong and the game generally looks and sounds great, some aspects like character models just aren't quite where they should be, and F1 Life doesn't add all that much to the experience. We encountered more bugs than expected, too, although we expect patches will iron those out in due course. It's got it where it really counts, then, but some extra polish would put it higher on the grid.
Although slightly saddened by the omission of a story mode this time around, it's more than made up for by the new vehicle physics. The concern of "F1 Life" having any bearing on gameplay being quashed makes F1 22 another flying lap for Codemasters.
For Formula One fans, it’s easier than ever to recommend F1 22. Significant changes have been made here to not only keep the game up to date, but also more immersive, more expansive and more fun. The only real disappointment is F1 Life, which feels a like a good idea in principle but very poorly executed. And of course, the lack of a story mode will be a let-down to some, too. Ultimately, F1 22 takes a couple of steps forward and couple back, but where it matters – in its gameplay and stellar career mode – it’s still very much at the front of the pack.
F1 22 is another solid instalment in Codemasters’ Formula 1 simulation series, even if the tweaks to the on-track gameplay aren’t all that noticeable. It feels very much an annual EA sports title. Updated ‘rosters’ in the form of its tracks and driver ratings, a few very minor adjustments to the core gameplay, and one or two new additions that do (or don’t) enhance the experience… I’m looking at you, supercars. Its character models can look a little lacking off-track, but as long as you’re happy to overlook this, the racing action is just as supremely satisfying as it ever has, and is sure to keep F1 fans content for the following 12 months.
What makes F1 22 great are the improvements to the core technical aspects.
Built on the foundations of several fantastic games, and those qualities remain – but you already own them. F1 22 simply doesn't offer enough for a full-price purchase.
F1 22 is, without a doubt, the best game of the franchise released so far. Visually beautiful, it is solid and polished in its mechanics on and off the track, offering precise gameplay adaptable to any type of player, providing a complete, challenging, and well-balanced experience of this sport.

Another superlative career mode, but the avatar customisation and tacked-on supercars feel like bullet points.
F1 22 is like a slice of birthday cake a couple days after the party. Someone (probably your dad) has pinched the glacé cherry from the cream splodge on top of your Black Forest Gateau, but your mum's put some regular cherries, banana and apple slices on the plate to it to make up for it. The fruit doesn't make sense, but the cake's still pretty good. Still, you're left dreaming of what next year's cake will be like. Maybe your cake engineer will be smart enough by then to actually know who you're racing against, and maybe Will Buxton will get some new jeans that don't look like they've carved out of stone. Maybe it'll be a carrot cake.
F1 22 is a game for everyone, from the casual gamer who just wants to race, to the now seasoned gamer who, as in F1 2004, fires up and goes straight for a fast lap in the red car. For this, and for many other reasons, F1 22 is a title we haven't seen in a long time, capable of conveying the passion of Formula 1 to a wide and varied audience without leaving anyone behind, in line with the philosophy the sport has been trying to convey in recent years.

F1 22 is about as close ask you get to an accurate simulation of a real-world sport. It manages to do this while continuing to offer an unprecedented level of customisation of the player experience. A game that others should be looking to emulate in terms of player control.
F1 22 isn't a revolution because we didn't need one. What was good in F1 21 is back here, with some new adds and the new still embryonic and yet promising F1 Life mode.

F1 22 is amazing on track, delivering great fun and thrilling action to all F1 fans. Physics and the new driving model, even if through the usual simcade lens, stage unpredictable and intense races. On the other hand, F1 Life and Supercar are shallow addition, very far from Codemasters standards in terms of quality and attention to the details. Overall, the New Era of F1 is brilliant of track, while not-so-new in terms of experience outside the paddock.

F1 22 is a very good game, and fans of the game should enjoy it as well as previous editions. It has enough changes to avoid yearly FIFA talk about it being the same game but keeping the core to easily allow older players to adapt to the new game.
F1 2022 is as authentic as you can get, with superb handling and stunning visuals, but a follow up to Braking Point would have been nice.
Brilliantly replicates the thrill of driving this year's F1 cars and even the cynical F1 Life, and it's awful microtransactions, can't spoil the excitement.
