I thoroughly enjoyed Modern Warfare 2, the game plays out like an 80’s action movie as I mentioned, it’s never going to be the most sophisticated game, but do you want that, really? Mission variety is refreshing, visuals are outstanding and characters are realistic and a key reason why this is a brilliant offering.

Every year it goes without saying that there’s going to be a new entry into Activision’s best-selling first-person shooter series, Call of Duty. However, with the news that a 2023 addition to the series will not be coming to light, does this latest entry have what it takes to carry the flame? We will be discussing the single-player campaign of the game in this review, our thoughts on the multiplayer will come at a later date.

A mild disappointment compared to the first Modern Warfare reboot, that relies too much on nostalgia and old ideas, but the core action and multiplayer modes are as irresistible as ever.

With plenty more to test in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, we’ll update this review to include a breakdown of its multiplayer, but as far as the campaign goes, Infinity Ward has put out a solid effort that surpasses most Call of Duty campaigns we’ve seen over the last five years. It’s a good sequel to 2019’s reboot, but still follows some all too familiar tropes, with some of the characters not getting the spotlight they deserve. I’ve played a good chunk of it, but it’s too early to give proper impressions of its online components, so check back soon for our complete review along with a score.

A remarkable delivery, with an entertaining campaign, good technical performance and a multiplayer mode loaded with content. The small adjustments are barely noticeable, and we have the feeling of playing "the same Call of Duty" as always, which will be fantastic for some, and bore others.

I mean, do you see the genius in that? Do you see how Modern Warfare 2 says something, and then unsays it, but in a way you might not notice, but also leaves the writers, developers, and the entity of Call of Duty an escape route from any accusations of intent or subjective belief? In a postmodern world of alternative facts and the end of the metanarrative, where it seems like there are no answers, truth, or anything you can fully believe in or trust, and everything shifts all the time, I think Modern Warfare 2 is a kind of masterpiece. And now I imagine them using that quote, “Modern Warfare 2 is a kind of masterpiece,” on a poster or something later on, and everything around it won’t matter.

It's just a pity that Farah is not available as a playable figure, trial & error passages get out of hand at times (especially in the vehicle convoy level), the plot was constructed a bit too predictably, the variety of enemies is quite low, there is no jungle level despite numerous Mexico detours and the campaign can not be tackled in co-op mode. If you can put up with all these quirks, you will still experience seven to eight hours of leaded video game escapism.

Is it because of the pressure of showing a better story than the previous work? They ended up with the story line that doesn't even add up and destroyed the plausibility between the characters, rather became a poor story compared to last one. However, high-quality shooting action and photo-realistic graphics that you expect from the series is still there, giving a genuine joy of FPS itself.

Modern Warfare II capitalizes on the campaign of its predecessor but fails to give it irreverence. It relies on its strong gameplay to build visually incredible action sequences, but fails to provide risky moments and narratives. The truth is that they say that in a winning team you don't move, and here you find a quality shooter.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is a hardcore, hyper-masculine sequel brimming with gorgeous visuals and ambitious action set pieces, all rolled together to serve as a faithful update to the original game. As it stands, this will be the last Call of Duty game until 2024 – and this is the best way to put a pause on the franchise. Shock and awe indeed.

During two days of fierce battles, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with its excellent audio-visual effects and intense fighting rhythm brought me an exciting and refreshing game experience. If the IW team can solve the vicious problems that greatly affect the game experience, and continue to introduce interesting new content in the after seasons, I'll be willing to spend hundreds of hours on it.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 subtly improves on a winning formula. It’s no real surprise that the multiplayer gunplay is the best in the series to date, but considering this is coming from the team that started this craze to begin with it’s to be expected. While the campaign may play it mostly safe, it features an enjoyable challenge, with a couple of interesting survival-type sections that almost turn it into another game entirely. There’s little doubt most Call of Duty players will feel right at home playing Modern Warfare II as it’s a solid entry and seemingly the shooter to play this holiday season and beyond.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beats out the last several Call of Duty games, but resists the potential to be truly great.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is a worthy sequel to the 2019 soft reboot, confirming the mastery of Infinity Ward in making the best chapters of the series. We are in the presence of an arcade shooter of quality and quantity, especially as regards the multiplayer modes, plagued by some technical and balancing problems but still incredibly fun to play.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II had some big shoes to fill and it had done quite well to fill them. The story accommodated a breathtaking plot, combined with jaw-dropping visuals. For multiplayer, you are pretty much getting more of the same from the predecessor, but with more content and a few alterations and that’s fine. Although, the new perk system needs to be strongly evaluated. And the returning Spec Ops is a sizeable step in the right direction.

It is a game that remains within the decent, it is not at all the fifth wonder of the world, but neither can it be interpreted as a disaster that will leave users indifferent, especially the most fanatical. The next installment must commit to delivering a product worthy of the new generation of consoles, since it seems that PS4 and Xbox One are limiting in some way.

Call of Duty returns for yet another year, and while the campaign feels a little bit like a case of diminishing returns, the strength of two-player co-op and multiplayer pulls Modern Warfare 2 through.
