Age of Wonders 4 is a magical adventure through the 4X strategy genre, offering a rich and immersive gaming experience that both newcomers and series veterans will enjoy. Its innovative faction design, dynamic magic system, and captivating visuals are a testament to Triumph Studios’ expertise.
There is a lot to celebrate here, and the number of options the player has makes for many hours of content to look forward to. A couple of problems here and there do raise their heads, but overall there is an extremely strong and well crafted game to look forward to for any who are tempted to give it a try.
Age of Wonders 4 is a beautifully crafted 4X experience for players who like to dig deep and learn how to customize a game to fit how they like to play and be able to research through many varieties of choices and traits.
The title has implemented the high replay value shown in various strategic games based on fantasy worldview. Numerous customizing elements are supporting the diversity in both combat and city management. Whether you are a fan of 4X games or not, you'll eventually find yourself spending quite a time on this game.

"Age of Wonders 4" is a huge step as 4X game and for Triumhp Studios. While some areas — such as combat and a bit of exploration — need refinement, the fact that you shape your destiny in a more impactful way than its previous entries makes it possibly one of the best turn based games of 2023 so far.

Despite some technical rough edges, "Age of Wonders 4" offers an excellent gaming experience for all strategy fans and those who want to become one. Not only does the campaign require tactical skill, but it also presents you with an interesting challenge as you create the ideal race for each scenario. The fact that you'll slowly build up your pantheon between saves and unlock new customization options for your races in a separate talent tree provides more long-term motivation than many other 4X titles.

While there is a lot to keep track of in Age of Wonders 4, persistence pays off when it comes to the main gameplay experience. While it may take time to get used to the different gameplay concepts and menu screens, the level of variety when it comes to customisation, hero units, underground passages, and ancient wonders makes Age of Wonders 4 a paradise sandbox for strategy fans at all levels. No matter whether you're a turn-based combat buff or more of a city management fan, you'll be sure to find something to like in this whopper of a game.

This is a massive game that is able to carry the weight of the series on its shoulders proudly, Age of Wonders 4 is purely magical.
Age of Wonders 4 has its pitfalls, and some aspects may end up stinging fans of the franchise. However, it's a wonderful step up in a lot of ways for 4X games and offers an unparalleled degree of customization for the genre. There's so much joy to be had in spending hours playing through a game as a faction and ruler you created. The best stories in games are the ones you make while playing, and Age of Wonders 4 offers you a solid foundation to do so while wrapped in the form of an excellent strategy game.
