Ready or Not Reviews
I didn't think it was possible, but Ready or Not's unique thrills and overwhelming controls have adapted well to the PlayStation 5.
Ready or Not is a huge hit and offers a unique experience unlike most FPS games. It allows players new to CQB to enjoy playing with friends.

An intriguing tactical shooter that embraces the precious SWAT legacy, offering a layered and challenging gameplay. It still lacks some polishing and we can't say that every idea got to achieve its full potential, but this is definitely an interesting and compelling gameplay experience for players that love to think before shooting.

Putting you in control of a SWAT team, Ready or Not tasks you with diffusing a variety of hostile situations. As you'd expect, it's a tense and atmospheric affair, where making effective use of commands is a must. And while I think it particularly shines in single-player, you can still have fun online if you can get a good team together.
Ready or Not is an excellent cooperative first-person shooter. The immersion is fantastic, with outstanding realism. There are many moments of tension and team communication. However, there are some issues, such as the single-player bots being quite difficult to control. Furthermore, the game was clearly designed for five players, so many levels become unnecessarily long and difficult with fewer players.

Ready or Not successfully imports the moment-to-moment gameplay and intensity of the classic SWAT franchise, but without much innovation and a host of major AI issues this tactical shooter was seemingly not quite ready to breach out of Early Access.
With its clever scenarios and sense of randomness, Ready or Not offers an exciting team-based tactical shooting formula that's great fun. đ«
Ready or Not has arrived on consoles with a streamlined package that preserves much of its original essence. Even though some details have been altered, the core challenge of entering a building full of armed men, surviving gunfire, and rescuing hostages remains just as rewarding as before. Despite some launch issues â such as lost save files and the already mentioned censorship accusations â the game remains one of the most visceral simulation experiences available on consoles, making it a great choice for fans of the genre.

Voice chat issues aside, Ready or Not really captured our imagination, and even when you get taken down in a mission, the spectator mode is almost as thrilling due to the tension in-game, as you will your team mates to make it through. Thereâs a grittiness to Ready or Not that bleeds through all aspects of the game and make it a serious contender in the world of online co-op tactical action titles, with the narrative thread also making it a recommendation if you intend on playing in single player mode, and if you are really keen on it â there is already a load of DLC to devour. Good!
Ready or Notâs intense, grounded scenarios and razor-sharp focus on tactical decision-making created a level of immersion Iâve rarely felt in games â especially for someone whoâs never touched this genre before. Playing solo is gripping, but diving into co-op with friends takes it to a whole new level, delivering moments of tension, chaos, and genuine teamwork that feel straight out of a crime thriller. It has some small imperfections, sure, but the highs far outweigh the lows and make for a tactical-shooting experience that I absolutely loved.
The arrival of Ready Or Not on Xbox is exciting, but also a foreboding one. The underlying vibes and environmental storytelling are outstanding, and this immersion can be tucked away without notice if you arenât paying attention. Levels are varied and some can be outright horrifying, which will keep you on your toes during every mission. Ready Or Not isnât for gamers who want an easy breezy and relaxing time â itâs a relentless tactical shooter where youâll need to pay attention at all times and work with others to survive. Teamwork is satisfying as you clear out rooms, arrest people and bag evidence â though if youâre yearning for some variety or a break from the norm, Ready Or Not might not do the trick for you. Altogether though, Ready Or Not is satisfying and has been created with attention to detail at its forefront â though its gameplay couldâve done with more excitement and variation.
Ready or Not will make a strong debut on Xbox Series X with some fine-tuning and polishing. It delivers a tense, tactical shooter that doesnât shy away from realism and consequences.
Ready or Not has some truly cinematic moments, all with a realistic tone. The firefights feel urgent and truly life-or-death every single time. The variety of situations and levels, alongside the replayability thanks to the freedom of choice, will keep you coming back and trying to do better, for you, your team, and those you save (or donât).
Ready or Not is one of 2025âs most surprising and rewarding shooters - especially for those craving the tactical edge long missing from console FPS. Tense, difficult, and deeply satisfying, it delivers high-stakes realism both solo and in multiplayer. Itâs not for the faint of heart, but if youâre ready for the pressure, the intensity becomes part of the thrill.

Looking at the gameplay only, Ready or Not is a fun, challenging, tense and enjoyable FPS. Itâs offers a nice diversity in a world of Call of Duty or Battlefield games, but thereâs something missing.
Ready or Not is more than just a game; it's a harrowing yet deeply satisfying journey into the unforgiving world of tactical law enforcement. Its meticulous detail, varied missions, and high replayability ensure that the "one more mission" feeling persists long after you've completed the main objectives. For anyone seeking a challenging, immersive, and genuinely impactful tactical shooter, Ready or Not stands as a resounding success on consoles.
Whether you'll want to face the vividly portrayed horror of police is a question we can't answer. "Ready or Not" is not for the faint of heart, but those who are willing to give it a try can immerse themselves in one of the best tactical shooters of the last decade

Like SWAT 4 got jacked on protein powder and PTSD, Ready or Not is absolutely essential for tactical shooter fans.
The heart of a great tactical shooter is here, but it's buried under some clunky systems and frustrating technical hiccups. With more polish and quality-of-life improvements, this could become a standout experience.
Kicking the door down and ordering everyone to freeze or hit the dirt; is there a more exciting and fulfilling aspect of crime fighting? There are precious few games of this type, and S.W.A.T. 4 was probably the last great one. But now, after almost two decades, Ready or Not is here to upset the status quo.
