Stellar Blade Reviews
More than just a Soulslike with a protagonist to serve as eye-candy, Stellar Blade has far surpassed our expectations, offering varied gameplay, outstanding visuals, a sublime soundtrack and an engaging story. It's a must-play for action game fans.
DMC and Bayonetta games have always had a distinct personality, and Final Fantasy, despite leaning towards real-time action combat in recent titles, has always placed its strong characters, meaningful RPG systems and sprawling stories front and centre. Stellar Blade doesn't do that. Shift Up has also clearly tried to appeal to a certain sensibility with its lead character design. However, a protagonist provocative on the surface, but completely unremarkable in every other layer beneath can only carry the allure so far. Eventually, Stellar Blade is held up by its fun combat and slick presentation, but it's consistently held back by almost everything else.
Those who simply wish to marvel at a Korean goddess and not concern themselves with a game’s finer details, then Stellar Blade might be the game. It’s a game that wants to be a masterpiece but simply isn’t. It isn’t a bad place for SHIFT UP to start, but don’t censor anything next time.
Stellar Blade does a fantastic job of delivering a breathtaking Action Combat. Combat, level design and bossfights are incredible and if it wasn't for its shallow story and unlikable characters, it could have become one of the best games in recent years.

I did, however, play through Stellar Blade twice from start to finish. It wasn't just because of the combat or the story, but because it looked so damn good. I'm not saying that because of all the beautiful people in it - everything moves and looks either immaculate, terrifying, gross, majestic or awe-inspiring. It's one of the best-looking action games out there, and it's definitely worth your time … and some pain.
Even with all its flaws, Stellar Blade is still an entertaining game. As Shift Up's first major release, it delivers enough to be considered a success and paves the way for potentially bigger and better games in the future.

Most of all, Stellar Blade surprises with the fact that it is the debut console project for the Shift Up studio. It looks and plays as if it was done by professionals with many years of experience. If they pay more attention to the plot and characters in the next projects, there will be nothing to complain about at all.

Stellar Blade does not hide its inspirations, but it presents all these elements with such a beautiful make-up and successful application that it is hard not to admire.

Stellar Blade comes as a surprise from a new developer in the AAA games arena and offers with it a fun game system, great content, excellent graphics and music.

Stellar Blade is a mostly enjoyable action game with solid combat, strong presentation, and good enemy designs. Its scantily clad heroine is not very interesting, and neither is the story, but there is enough here to warrant a peek.
In so many ways Stellar Blade comes across as reactionary. It’s a rejection of the way that modern games aim to be accessible with crystal clear wayfinding, easy-to-solve puzzles and an easy mode that plays itself. It’s also a rejection of the idea that video game characters should be humanised and “realistic”, instead opting for the mannequin look with hyper-idealised femininity. It resolutely refuses to be profound or meaningful, or be anything other than a wildly entertaining video game. It’s all exceptionally well made and achieves everything that it sets out to, and it’s a genuinely good experience. The developers have totally successfully delivered what they intended to but it is also fascinating that Sony of all companies chose to pick it up and publish it, because more than anything else Stellar Blade feels like a response to everything that Sony has been driving towards over the past decade.
In the end, Stellar Blade is clearly a unique title that managed to sneak onto the scene, take the best of modern video games and glue it all together into one consistently breathtaking experience.

Stellar Blade is a game that stands out for its excellent character design and lore, but its appeal goes beyond the beautiful visual aspect. It's a really fun experience that we enjoyed due to its exceptional combat system, epic boss battles and enjoyable exploration. It's a brave game that dares to challenge many current trends to become one of the top South Korean representatives in the gaming industry.

Stellar Blade is a great action game with an interesting story. It's challenging in just the right amount and its content is varied enough to keep the player entertained. However, certain combat mechanics need some tweaking. In addition, the main campaign is somewhat short, and can be finished in about 10 to 15 hours (the parallel content compensates for the situation, being able to double this number).

I mostly had a great time with Stellar Blade with its combat being the real star of the show. Although exploration doesn't offer much exciting, it's still a worthwhile action adventure game that you're sure to have a lot of fun with. 🗡️
Stellar Blade is a good game that has a few mistakes, but overall has a very positive experience. If you manage your expectations, both good and bad, it's a game you'll probably enjoy playing.

In the end, the question must be asked: was the recent attention on Stellar Blade justified? After spending many hours with EVE, the answer is yes. The adventure is solid and fun, with an interesting combat system and a gameplay loop that goes beyond mere melee sequences. However, it isn’t revolutionary, and the narrative reveals its cards too early. Despite these flaws, it offers a generous amount of content and is worth playing.

Stellar Blade has a satisfying combat system, an uncomplicated equipment system that we can easily adjust to our playstyle, and a beautiful protagonist, thanks to whom the game gained notoriety. In my opinion, it's unfair that such a good game had to ride the wave of a mild scandal to get players' attention. Playing it is just pure fun, and I definitely recommend it to everyone.
