Mother Russia Bleeds Reviews
Mother Russia Bleeds is a unique beat 'em up with some clever ideas at work. This title falls short of realizing them due to, framerate issues and some childish plot devices.
Mother Russia Bleeds brings drug use, killing animals and women, and loads of gore to the beat'em up genre, but lacks originality and is riddled with bugs.
A potentially great game that is completely let down by its balancing and lacklustre enemy encounters.
Mother Russia Bleeds doesn't come anywhere near to toppling Streets of Rage 2 as the best scrolling beat'em up, but it has a decent stab at it, making it a recommended purchase for fans of the genre.
The violence of Mother Russia Bleeds provides neither joy nor insight
Overall, Mother Russia Bleeds is a fun single player/multiplayer beat 'em up on PlayStation 4. It's a bit on the gruesome and bloody side of the genre, but it's a fun ride while it lasts. Being able to take on the game on your own or with up to three other players makes it a great option on Sony's console, so if you've been looking for a beat 'em up with a good balance between the old and the new, you should give this one a try.
Mother Russia Bleeds is a solid debut for Le Cartel Studio.
The most flattering description I can offer Mother Russia Bleeds is that of an enjoyably formulaic brawler, but the ferocity of its execution was refined enough to get lodged in my head.
Mother Russia Bleeds is an extremely violent and tough game containing strong drug references, and that means this release is not for everyone. The game is now available on Nintendo Switch, so you can take it for a spin in Portable or Tabletop mode or play at home by docking the console for some fun solo or multiplayer sessions. Let us know what you think about this game in the comments below!
Mother Russia Bleeds is an unapologetically offensive but well-executed brawler that on its face, only a mother could love. If you enjoy the violent or obscene, aren't squeamish, and are looking to bust skulls with reckless abandon, it's one of the better playing and looking offerings on Switch today.
If you're looking for a 21st century take on the beat 'em up genre then look no further – Mother Russia Bleeds is exactly the game you need! Sure, the violence and gore might not be for everyone, but the gameplay is fun and entertaining, and in the end, that's all you really want from a game. Be sure to give this one a go and let us know in the comments what you thought about your time with the game!
Mother Russia Bleeds is a good game. Not a great game, but it's a fun enough throw back to a genre that once was king. While it's better in co-op, I had a decent amount of fun playing solo, too.
Mother Russia Bleeds is a good game, it gives a nice nostalgia hit to the classic brawlers of the 90's, but as mentioned above, can get very boring very quickly.
Mother Russia Bleeds comes across feeling more average than evolutionary
Mother Russia Bleeds is a game that will make you hate yourself for enjoying.
Something that everyone should try, especially if you're an admirer of fighting games, but not much more than that. This is not a game you'll tell stories about for a long time, so spend a few hours on it, and elegantly forget about it after you're done. The sea of "just above average" is huge and Mother Russia is just about drowning in it.
Mother Russia Bleeds is ultimately a competent, but somewhat forgettable entry in the beat'em-up genre.
Blood, guts, and broken bones are a vital part of Mother Russia Bleeds, as despite it’s old school visual facade, it is an extremely gory title. And, contrary to popular belief, that’s good, very good in fact. Gore which accompanies the violence that is present throughout this Soviet journey, is the backbone of the the title, as it is the thing which allows Mother Russia Bleeds to stand amongst other slouching, half-baked indie products. And ultimately, gore is the final piece of the puzzle which makes Mother Russia Bleeds whole. However, the puzzle despite its completion, is lacking in some sections, as the story of Mother Russia Bleeds gets constantly lost amongst all the blood, screams, and chaos. And that is what some may find disappointing, as many will see Mother Russia Bleeds‘ story mode as nothing more than an extension to the arena mode.
I certainly have a soft spot for the beat 'em ups, and I'm happy to report that Le Cartel's debut release is one of the best ones I've played in my nearly thirty year love affair with the genre. It's a bone-breaking homage to such classics as Final Fight and Streets of Rage that's guaranteed to both shock and entertain. Whether you're diving in solo or teaming up with friends or paint Russia red, Mother Russia Bleeds is a damn good time, and a masterclass brawler that deserves a spot in your library.
Mother Russia Bleeds is a really interesting premise with a fantastic setting that delivers excellent combat. Le Cartel's vision of a brawler in 2016 with a retro aesthetic is executed beautifully for Mother Russia Bleeds to be one of the best beat'em ups in recent years.
