The Wolf Among Us: Season One Reviews
For a game released near-identically across multiple platforms and generations, The Wolf Among Us holds up very well. If you can handle the lack of conventional gameplay and instead approach it as a ‘choose your own adventure’ with a slick script and voice work, check it out.
The game keeps you engaged with the story and delivers high octane action that gets the pulse racing
Telltale Games' The Wolf Among Us is the same masterclass in storytelling on PlayStation 4 as we'd seen before on last-gen consoles. However, the transition has only made some glitches and errors even more noticeable
The Wolf Among Us, Telltale's journey into the world of Bill Willingham's Fables, is a well-crafted point-and-click adventure game that thrills, despite being light on puzzles and challenge.
Telltale's riff on the Fables series is far from child's play.
The Wolf Among Us on the PS4 is a magnificent re-release that fans should enjoy. If you haven't played it yet then add the game to your "to-play" list immediately.
The Wolf Among Us is an exceptionally well written and paced title from Telltale Games. . . . This is still a great game, but it's not the polished up final product that you may have been hoping for.
At full price as of the time of this writing, no substantive upgrades, and nearly an identical experience to the previous version, the Xbox One iteration of 'The Wolf Among Us' is only recommended for those players who are new to the series. For those people, I certainly encourage a playthrough. For those who have played it in the past, there isn't much to see here.
TellTale games is on a big stride here! They hit it with The Walking Dead Season and the follow up The Walking Dead 400 days and they are on another winner with The Wolf Among Us. All in all, the Wolf Among Us is an excellent game that is best played on a high-end console as it gives the entire experience, a movie-like feel!
Despite those trademark Telltale technical glitches, The Wolf Among Us is an essential purchase and exceeds the studios' previous efforts in gameplay, visuals and voice acting. The impact of choices you make in interrogations, conversations and crime scene investigations will keep you hooked right until the end.
Telltale has proven again how well their episodic storytelling format lends itself to adaptation of successful franchises. And the binge-playthrough taught me that anyone who hasn't been following The Wolf Among Us episode-by-episode, and who therefore might feel like they missed the boat, couldn't be more wrong.
Telltale Games scores another major win with The Wolf Among Us: Season One.
And really, that's the major flaw of The Wolf Among Us: that it does so much right and hints at the towering heights it could achieve, only to go tumbling down hill.
Don't go in expecting something on the same level as The Walking Dead, but if you are interested in the setting, give The Wolf Among Us a try.
As a complete season, The Wolf Among Us is an enthralling breakthrough for Telltale and videogame storytelling as a whole.
