Sonic X Shadow Generations Reviews
I had a great time playing SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS with its modern adaptation of a genuine classic and its super-fun new campaign featuring Shadow the Hedgehog. This is such a bountiful package that any Sonic fan will absolutely love it. đŠ
Of course, the music and voice acting is all great, it pretty much always is in Sonic games, and its quality is definitely not lost in the transition to the Nintendo Switch 2. Honestly, this might be the first time since playing the original Sonic games on my 3DS that playing Sonic handheld has felt so this good, this absolutely polished. Fast-paced levels mixed with being able to play in bursts in handheld mode. This might be a decade-old title, but itâs almost like this game had been originally crafted with the Switch 2 in mind, almost in a savant-like manner.
It runs well and it looks great, and it gives hope that, at least for the next little while, Switch 2 ports wonât require you to make a few allowances for subpar performance.
Playing Sonic X Shadow Generations, I loved the experience. However, I felt awful for Nintendo fans, who were treated to a subpar version of the latest 3D Sonic adventure. Following a bad port of Sonic Frontiers and a lackluster version of Sonic Colors Ultimate, more powerful hardware was needed to offer the ideal Sonic experience. Now we have that hardware, Nintendo fans can finally enjoy a fantastic 3D Sonic experience on the go. I cannot recommend Sonic X Shadow Generations enough if you have never experienced this high-speed adventure.
The biggest difficulty in evaluating this version lies in a decision that has little to do with the gaming experience. For some reason, SEGA decided not to adopt the âupgradeâ system for games that are already available on the first Nintendo Switch and receive the âNintendo Switch 2 Editionâ. In other words, if you paid full price for the game when it was released on the first Switch, if you want to see the graphical improvements on the new console, you will have to pay full price again.

Sonic gets overshadowed by his brooding counterpart Shadow in this remaster of 2011's excellent Sonic Generations. The game does have some problems unique to the Nintendo Switch 2, but aside from that it's still a solid entry in the library of Sonic games.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Sonic x Shadow Generations is superb with crisp visuals and locked 60 FPS gameplay that doesn't skip a beat or frame. The game offers two fun and compelling campaigns full of content in Sonic Generations and Shadow Generations that will keep new fans and completionists coming back for more. However, there's no upgrade path from the original Switch version, so you'll have to pay for the Switch 2 version in full.
SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS is a solid remaster with some high-quality extra content that elevates the whole package. It's not a must-have if you've already played the original or aren't interested in Shadow, but if you're a fan of the hedgehog or have never tried it, it's an excellent opportunity to discoverâor rediscoverâone of the best modern titles in the series. As for the Nintendo Switch 2 version, we were hoping for a bit more, but if you haven't played it before, it's still a very valid option to enjoy it on Nintendo's new hybrid.

Sonic X Shadow Generations is a fantastic collection of quality content that beautifully celebrates the legendary journey of the blue hedgehog. All complimented by one of the best modern 3D Sonic / Shadow adventures to date with fast-paced tracks, intriguing story, a compelling overworld and a wonderful aesthetic. The lack of full HDR when docked and a true upgrade path between Switch 1 to Switch 2 is a bit disappointing, but this is a wonderful first point of entry for a truly excellent game that anyone with history with the Hedgehog must experience.
While the Sonic portion of the game is starting to show its age, thereâs still plenty of fun to be had revisiting classic zones and taking on Eggman once again. Itâs the Shadow adventure though that is the true standout. Polished, exhilarating and clearly made with a real love for the character, Shadow Generations is a fantastically fun time and turns Sonic X Shadow Generations into a must for fans of the series and platforming fans alike.
Sonic X Shadow Generations takes one of the best 3D Sonic games and packages it with one of the best Shadow experiences in some time. This package has so much value for those who have yet to experience Sonic Generations. Even if you have, Sonic X Shadow Generations is worth the double-dip if you love speeding around in 3D. It isnât free of some of the original issues that held Generations back all those years ago, but Sonic X Shadow Generations is a confident reminder that 3D Sonic has always had the potential to be genuinely excellent.
Both for those who played Sonic Tema and SEGA's proposal at the time, and for those who are getting into this work for the first time, this is a doubly interesting title. On the one hand, the facelift of Sonic Generations makes it a rounded product.

âSonic x Shadow Generationsâ is a solid remaster with an awesome tie-in that shows a bright future for the Sonic franchise. It fixes the original game's performance problems, while the new Shadow content is fun and exciting to play.
[Sonic x Shadow Generations] brings the 2011 game Sonic Generations back for a new audience to enjoy, while introducing just enough content for long-time Sonic fans to justify returning to a game that came out over 10 years ago.
Sonic X Shadow Generations packs two epic games into one. Longtime fans will feel that nostalgia hit by reliving some of the best moments of Sonic and Shadow, with tons of replay value. Sonic Generations is just as good as in 2011, and Shadow Generations is the long-overdue game that Shadow fans have been screaming for.
Sonic X Shadow Generations is a collection that is remembered as a memorable and enjoyable collection for Sonic fans. There are some negative points, such as repetitive stages and a superficial story, but it is still worth playing and fans of the exciting world of the lovable hedgehog will adore it.

Sonic Generations, especially with its technical improvements, is as excellent as before, and Shadow Generations is one of the best titles in the series. Even if you're not a fan of the 2D sidescrolling action, Sonic x Shadow Generations is a fantastic introduction to the iconic franchise.

Gotta go fast, fast, and faster. Although it won't blow your mind, Sonic X Shadow Generation is nevertheless a fun representative of the genre, if you can forgive certain issues.

Sonic X Shadow Generations is pure perfection. The gameplay is the best itâs ever been, the stages are excellent, the visuals are amazing, and the soundtrack kicks ass. Throw in the added bonus of a remastered Sonic Generations, and you have the ultimate Sonic package. Even the few issues I have with the OG Generations have no impact on my enjoyment with the game as a whole.
If you're looking for a fun-filled Sonic game, Sonic x Shadow Generations is not to be missed. Whether you play as Sonic or Shadow, there are plenty of enemies to destroy and tonnes of content to explore.
