Still, where Legacy Collection 2 stumbles, Legacy Collection shines. The original six Mega Man games are the real stars, and having unfettered access to them in such a premium package makes this arguably the definitive way to play them.

With extra challenges, a rewind feature and some of the best emulation of the Nintendo Entertainment System I've seen. This is a must-have collection for sure.

If you already have the Legacy Collection on 3DS and are happy with it, I don't know how badly you need this Switch version. However, both volumes in addition to the upcoming Mega Man X collection, on a single console is awfully tempting prospect, right? It's like the GameCube all over again.

While there's no reason to choose Mega Man Legacy Collection over Mega Man Anniversary Collection, there is plenty of content here for anyone who can't easily enjoy the latter again, and the games themselves are as fantastic as they've ever been. The extraneous Challenges are nice additions, but they aren't appealing enough to carry Mega Man Legacy Collection.

Mega Man Legacy Collection is, at its core, a competent collection of six classic titles that every platforming fan - or, indeed, every gamer - should play at some point. However, it doesn't go much further than that. It's a shame that a character with such a lengthy history doesn't quite get that honoured in this package, and while it's a great jumping-on point for those unfamiliar with the Blue Bomber's origins, long-time fans will find little to celebrate here.

Mega Man Legacy Collection is a fantastic compilation, faithfully emulating the difficult NES classics while adding a staggering amount of extra content and gameplay.

Mega Man Legacy Collection is a solid collection of games that has a handful of technical issues that I understand being there, though my personal preference would have been to clean them up. The additional content and features do a great job of putting the bow on an already great package. Fans of Mega Man's earliest adventures would do well to check this out, especially given its reasonable price point.

Digital Eclipse considers 'Mega Man Legacy Collection' to be just as much a time capsule or museum exhibit as it is a video game, a sentiment I do not disagree with. A great deal of work has been put into curating the games and adding new, optional content while retaining their retro aesthetic. A few video issues crop up here and there, and perhaps the gameplay can be stubbornly vintage, but this is still a great compilation.

If you're looking for quick, simple, and challenging fun, then this collection may be the perfect game for you to download from the marketplace. Loaded with six Mega Man games from the last century and even includes a good number of challenging and timed remixes.

If you're a hardcore fan of the Blue Bomber and don't otherwise have access to the games, the Mega Man Legacy Collection is a convenient way to replay these Capcom classics, but as a collection, it doesn't compare to Rare Replay or even the last-gen SEGA Vintage Collection games that were put together by M2.

Mega Man Legacy Collection feels incomplete, even at the relatively low asking price. You get the first six titles that form the basis of the Mega Man Legacy (which is apt, given the compilation's name) but other than an entertaining challenge mode, there doesn't appear to be much in the way of love shown to the franchise here.

There are plenty of nitpicks that can be made about Mega Man Legacy Collection, but at its core, the title is a compilation of some of the best games of the 8-bit era. While there have been plenty of other ways to acquire these games in the past, it's impossible not to give the game a high recommendation. There's a reason the Blue Bomber has proven so enduring. Fans new to the series and those that have yet to experience the games will find a lot to love.

Overall, Mega Man Legacy Collection is a release that long term fans of the little blue robot will absolutely adore despite the odd hiccup, thanks to the faithful representation of the games on offer and the myriad of extras included in the package.

There could have been more games crammed into a Mega Man collection in 2016 than just the NES titles (and, in fact, that has happened), but the current roster doesn't disrupt its mission in the slightest. That mission is to share the earliest exploits of a gaming icon with a new audience while throwing a bone to longtime fans so Capcom can contemplate the Blue Bomber's next step.

Mega Man Legacy Collection may not be the ultimate compilation of Mega Man games, but being able to play the origins of such an incredible series on a modern console complete with plenty of extra content definitely makes it a warranted purchase.

This is another very impressive entry in Capcom’s Legacy Collection and if you’re either looking for a walk down a saber-slashing memory lane or trying to blast rogue robots for the first time, then you won’t be disappointed by this retro-style platformer.

Mega Man Legacy Collection brings together all the main games in one pack and we're glad about that, but it's true that it's a bit of a vague compilation and the amount of extra content isn't enough to jump right in. Still, it's a great opportunity to learn about the beginnings of this character and to recall a piece of video game history.

While the two Legacy Collections compliment each other like crackers and cheese, Mega Man Legacy Collection is easily the more streamlined. It feels like the more complete package due to all six games being originally released on the same console.

The Legacy Collection masterfully succeeds at preserving the original state of the classics. While it adds new content to the fray, it serves only to enrich the already-existing experience that fans have come to know and love. New challenges and the ability to marvel at designs and audio collections make the collection all the more worthwhile. Enjoy this healthy slice of gaming history.
