Pragmata proves that when something takes time, it's because you want to do it right. Capcom has succeeded in the challenging task of bringing a new IP to market with fun and deep gameplay (once mastered). Despite a few minor flaws, including less-than-inspired missions and questionable checkpoint management, the Osaka-based studio's latest effort is worth picking up for TPS fans and those looking to experiment with something different and with innovative mechanics.

I don't give out perfect scores lightly, and I mulled over this for some time, but there was almost no part of PRAGMATA I disliked. The story had emotional weight and surprised me with its twists, and the combination of puzzle and action in real-time made fights engaging, and the temporary weapons continually made combat feel dynamic. The simple progression was enjoyable, and I felt that every single collectible I could find held meaning that made me more powerful. This is a must-have game. I even went back in to 100% it, which is not something I tend to do, and it's a testament to how much I enjoyed playing. And even though there are some compromises, the game is wonderful on the Steam Deck. I had such a blast playing through on the go, even if I couldn’t hit 60 FPS. Thankfully, the RE Engine pulls its weight and keeps the game looking fantastic and optimized.

Pragmata dares to be different and commits to it from start to finish. Its blend of action and hacking creates something that feels fresh and surprisingly natural once it clicks. Combine that with memorable characters and plenty of hidden secrets, and you’re in for a wild ride. It’s not flawless, but it’s one of the most original and engaging games I’ve played in a long time.
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Pragmata. Capcom created a very interesting Sci-Fi dystopia that I wish were more explored in the game's main narrative. Combat is great, if a little overwhelming, with some amazing set pieces that really make the most out of its system mechanics. If you're one to support new IPs, now's the time to show Capcom you want more than Resident Evil or Monster Hunter from them.

The relationship between Hugh and Diana adds charm and helps sustain interest, even when the story leans on familiar sci-fi elements. Despite some noticeable limitations, such as repetition and a more guided structure, the game remains engaging due to its consistent pacing, well-crafted world, and unique concept, ultimately standing out as a distinctive experience that may not fully reach its potential but still delivers a memorable adventure.

Pragmata is a stunning masterpiece, and its true soul is Daiana. A character designed with captivating beauty and details overflowing with life and innocence, making her the beating heart of the game and its unforgettable icon. Enjoyable chaos is exactly what PRAGMATA is. Everything about this version of the world is terrifying, but I just loved being there, especially when it came to taking a breather at the shelter with Diana. I couldn’t stop thinking about how fun most aspects of this game were, so much so that I immediately jumped back in after rolling credits.
Despite a few very minor complaints, Pragmata is one of Capcom's most interesting and enjoyable adventures to date.
A moving and surprising story about humanity and AI envelops this excellent action game, always interesting and expansive.
