Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is a very pleasant surprise that doesn't try to be just another classic platformer, but instead presents Yoshi as a young explorer and naturalist. The game is light, colorful, and very accessible, but it also manages to surprise with clever puzzles and inventive use of various creatures' abilities.

Whether you are a lifelong Yoshi fan, a Nintendo enthusiast, or someone completely new to the series, this is an adventure that is easy to recommend. It is heartfelt, visually beautiful, consistently inventive, and perfectly suited to the strengths of the Nintendo Switch 2. More importantly, it captures that special sense of joy and wonder that Nintendo so often excels at delivering, making it one of the most memorable family-friendly adventures available on the platform.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is a delightfully weird and refreshing shift for the series that values exploration over standard platforming tropes. While the lack of early guidance and the flashy art style can occasionally cause some mechanical frustration, the sheer level of creativity on display makes it incredibly hard to put down. It trades predictable levels for massive vertical playgrounds that grow larger the deeper you dive into Mr E’s pages. If you are looking for a fun, beautifully detailed adventure that actively encourages you to mess around and find your own way, this Switch 2 exclusive is absolutely worth playing.

A reminder of why Nintendo remains Nintendo. Yoshi and the Mysterious Book doesn't chase trends — it builds its own vision with conviction and delivers it with impeccable production quality. For players willing to tune into its frequency of calm, wonder, and generosity, it's simply unmissable

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is, more than anything else, a weird, somewhat experimental game. There’s a plot, of course, and some familiar faces that pop up here and there, but if you’re expecting your standard Nintendo 2D platformer (as reductionist as that phrase is), this definitely isn’t that.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is a cute experience that I had a lot of fun playing. While some stages do have some rather obtuse solutions to their puzzles, it's still a cute and fun experience that I enjoyed from start to finish.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book feels like the evolution the series needed: a relaxed, beautiful adventure full of secrets, where exploring Professor Leo’s pages and experimenting with each creature is as charming as it is rewarding.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is a game where experimentation and curiosity lead the pack. If you can think it, it’s probably possible, and that is honestly amazing. The development team had their fun with this and didn’t stop at the bare minimum; they went above and beyond. But at the same time, it can also be a little frustrating and repetitive, so my main advice for this title is to take things slow and leave enough breathing room between each play session.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book breaks away from the usual conventions of 3D platformers, opting instead for an experience centered on puzzles and the player’s curiosity. Although it carries a strong appeal for children, the game works well across all ages thanks to the way it introduces unique mechanics and creative ideas in each new stage.

What I will say about Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is that it’s much more memorable than many of its previous entries. I remember playing through Yoshi’s Crafted World fondly, but after the credits rolled, I found myself struggling to remember any memorable moments. Finding new creatures and discovering the many different ways you can engage with them leads to plenty of memorable ‘a-ha’ moments, and that’s what it’s all about. It also helps to give the Yoshi series a profound point of difference among Nintendo’s slew of other platformer franchises, so I’m all for the multi-coloured dinosaurs exploring the avenue of gameplay.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is a wonderful Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive that gives Yoshi one of his boldest adventures in years. I loved how creature studying and Mr. E.’s missing knowledge all support the same goal of turning every page into a small discovery hunt.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is a unique puzzle-platformer that is definitely the most fun a Yoshi game has been in a while. It has a simple story to follow and there's plenty of room for replayability depending how much exploring you want to do. What I love the most is that you aren't forced to explore everything before completing the story.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book sticks by the adage, short and sweet. It’s here for a good time, not for a long time, so its decision to lengthen the boss battles is all the more confusing to me. Most levels had me smiling while playing, as I wondered what each creature tasted like and how the level would unfold. While the exploratory model can leave players feeling a bit lost on how to end a level, the game’s generosity with hints ensures any possible frustration is short-lived.
