Elliot is a tremendous amount of fun, especially thanks to its rewarding exploration and enjoyable combat system. However, the game falls short of becoming a top-tier title because its different time periods feel too similar to one another. Overall, I’m very much looking forward to a sequel that addresses the game’s obvious weaknesses and builds upon the genuinely strong foundations it has already established.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales turns HD-2D from a mere visual style into a genuine variable of its level design. The peaks of its exploration and combat don't quite line up with its storytelling, but HD-2D, tender illustration work, and an earnest, classic adventure narrative bridge that gap—closing on a story that ends well.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales only falls short of absolute perfection due to its flawed story pacing and uninspired, overly chatty character writing. The script's refusal to utilize silence or brevity hurts the momentum of what should be a snappy adventure. The vague implementation of the time-travel theme also misses the chance to create truly distinct historical world shifts.

I would love to see a sequel to The Adventures of Elliot, because so much of the foundation that is here can work if refined. Similar to Octopath Traveler 1 to 2, Team Asano could make something special a second time around, but right now The Adventures of Elliot: The Millenium Tales leaves too much on the table. The promise of adventure that never reaches its full potential.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is that rare kind of game that knows exactly where it stole its references from and is completely shameless about it. It draws from Zelda, Secret of Mana, and lesser-remembered relics like Landstalker and Alundra, but uses these references as a foundation, not a borrowed crutch.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a genuine video game that exudes personality and boasts a multi-layered narrative and plots capable of blowing the player’s mind, stimulating and rewarding their curiosity, reasoning, and mechanical skills. With HD-2D graphics that evoke heartwarming nostalgia and a phenomenal soundtrack that enhances the emotional factor of this adventure, the versatility of the various weapons, combined with Faie’s abilities and the magicite build system, results in one of the most enjoyable experiences that the year 2026 has to offer; a masterpiece with fluid mechanics and a gameplay rhythm very well paced by the story and exploration that compels us to say: thank you, Team Asano

"The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales" is the best Zelda-like of this generation. While its puzzles need more polish and it struggles to establish a unique identity, its rewarding exploration, excellent dungeons, and satisfying combat more than make up for it.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a title that conveys the message that, no matter the difficulties we face, the hope for something better will always be there. The game was a wonderful surprise, standing out with its excellent narrative, extremely enjoyable gameplay, and immense exploration. Furthermore, the soundtrack is beautiful, and even the secondary content is very well utilized. I truly hope we get to see more of our protagonist and this universe that enchanted me. For fans of Zelda-style RPGs, this is a must-have and indispensable title.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a charming and fun title whose greatest merits lie in its world-building, the charisma of its cast, and its strong focus on dungeon exploration and puzzle-solving. Despite some reservations regarding the depth of its customization systems, the journey through the different eras of Philabieldia is quite satisfying.

'The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales' personally surprised me. It doesn't come without a struggle, but at the end of the day, this is a game that feels a bit like comfort food. With a playtime of just under twenty hours and a lighter tone, this is a very nice little snack in the current landscape. Not everything has to be an all-you-can-eat buffet that takes eighty hours to finish. If you like 'Alundra', 'Ys', or the 2D Zelda games, then you're all set with this game.

The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is the ideal game for those seeking an experience that doesn't stray too far from the action-adventure standard, but also expands upon it! Its campaign, with approximately 30 hours to complete, is certainly the right length, making it a perfect game for portable play or TV viewing.

Of all of Square Enix’s HD-2D games, The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is my least favorite – but I don’t think that makes it a bad game. Some fun boss battles, great music, and satisfying movement throughout four beautiful eras just barely make up for how little depth there is to the story, combat, and especially the puzzles/exploration.
