Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 delivers another entertaining blast of Xeno-slaying co-op action, but familiar ideas and a general lack of polish stop this bug hunt from reaching its full potential.

There’s a fun game in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 for sure; just don’t expect much in the way of originality.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 manages to deliver exactly what we expect from a good cooperative game in the franchise: lots of bullets, Xenomorphs coming from all sides, classes that really make a difference, and that delicious feeling that any dark corridor could turn into our last moment of life.

"Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2" promised to improve upon everything its predecessor lacked to achieve mainstream success. However, the game we received manages to regress in many ways to the final version of the original and repeats many of the mistakes that nearly killed the first title.

In the end, there is enough here to keep fans happy, and hopefully future DLC will come similar to the original, which will give players plenty of new missions to enjoy.

Ultimately, any time you might spend on Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is better spent elsewhere. Any momentum built up in enjoying the game is derailed instantly when a bug forces you or a teammate out of the game, and the impressive visuals aren’t enough to make up for it.

If you’ve played Aliens: Fireteam Elite, you’ve already played Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2. It’s nearly the same game down to mission structure, only prettier but with 200% more story and dialogue you do not want to hear. Once the campaign ends, there’s no real endgame content to speak of, leaving you with nothing to do but replay levels on higher difficulties where the core gameplay fails to hold interest. Charging $10 more than its predecessor for an experience that recycles the same formula where you’re retreading previous areas is uninspired. It offers a few hours of mindless action if you just want to turn your brain off, but ultimately, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 simply isn’t enough to justify the price tag.

Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 rebuilds its classes and adds a genuinely clever Specialist system, but stuttering, crashes, and a campaign that runs out of content too fast keep it from being the leap forward it should've been.

While Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 features visual upgrades and several improvements over its predecessor, it fails to be a highly captivating game due to unaddressed flaws, disappointing optimization, and a lack of Korean localization.
