Roman Sands RE:Build Reviews
A frenetic tale of two realities, both alike in dysfunction, which immerses the player in servitude and struggle.
More of an experience in nature than your classical videogame, but they stick in my brain nonetheless. I've been waiting for this game since its announcement and now that it's here, it's something I'll be thinking about for a long while. A little Danganropa, a little work sim, but a lot to ponder.
Undoubtedly one of the more unusual games I’ve played running this site, it may have some appeal for the right crowd, but it definitely will take patience to see everything it has to offer
Roman Sands RE:Build is a wonderfully bizarre adventure that blends surreal apocalyptic storytelling, dark satire, memorable characters, and striking vaporwave aesthetics with an outstanding jungle and breakcore soundtrack. Its inventive atmosphere and intriguing puzzles make it a fascinating experience, although repetitive time-loop tasks, forced grinding, and less expressive character designs compared to the original hold it back.

Roman Sands RE:Build was the first narrative title of 2026 to intrigue me, primarily because it recognizes that the defining feature of games as a storytelling medium is gameplay, not text. Text serves merely as a tool to shape the interactive experience; in fact, the dialogue—while pretentious and repetitive—does not negatively impact the adventure, given the nature of its time-based theme, but actually sets a fitting tone for the work. But when a technical issue prevents the player from experiencing the work as intended, the promise unfortunately cannot be kept. A narrative that seeks to draw an intriguing parallel with Plato’s Cave—in a game of philosophical perceptions that is far from juvenile—ultimately remains trapped by the shadows cast on the wall, with the exit sealed off by a bug.
