From a studio I’d never heard of and who, in turn, I expected nothing special from, 'Furi' makes me feel like a fool for ever judging it so harshly. Very possibly the best action game this generation so far, this is a rare example of every facet of a game's design working perfectly to create an amazing whole. This is an outstanding effort from a studio I’m going to follow wholeheartedly from here on out.

This game!! The Game Bakers… this game -- I love this game, everything about it. I wouldn’t replay it because I don’t even know when I’m going to finish. Thank you for letting Afro Samurai be a piece of inspiration in creating this. I played on Furi but, I feel like I played on Furier, but I was just on Furi! This game makes me Furious but not enough to stop playing. I’m so determined to beat this!

Furi is an explosive type of game, but never once does it get in it’s way. From a company that hadn’t done much before, it’s insane that this game came out so innovative and fun. While it may not appeal to everybody looking for a casual experience, there’s no excuse to pick it up if you’ve got Playstation Plus. You might dive into a new comfort zone you were never aware of until now.

Furi kicked my ass, and I loved it. There was laughter, there were tears, but most of all, there was a goddamned great game. The combat is extremely taxing, but fair, and the narrative is surprisingly rewarding. If you’re a masochist, Furi is the game you’ve been waiting for.

Despite a niggling complaint or two about the overall structure, there is very little to dislike about Furi. It is, no doubt, a truly original title. I won’t soon forget my time with its anthropomorphized desk lamps, time-bending old geezers, and deceptive bunny people. I suspect other people craving something new and unique will feel the same.

Furi is a rare game: unique, challenging and fun, but it will almost certainly prove insurmountable for some.

Simply put, Furi stands out as one of the biggest surprises of the year. Few games manage to be this stylish and deep, all while crafting the perfect balance of challenge and reward.

Furi is sure to make your adrenaline rise at least once, with formidable bosses and a fantastic story, each moment of the game — whether it be narrative or combat — drives you towards the ending of the game that you choose. You don't need to be a dueling master — failing in Furi is part of the fun as each lost life means that you're one step closer to understanding the mechanics and therefore one step closer to victory. Simply put, if you can get past the difficulty and see the beauty behind it, you're sure to have a blast with this game and especially on the Nintendo Switch.

Furi becomes essential by identifying and removing what it declares expendable. There are no exotic mechanics, insatiable combo chains, or compulsory battles against waves of time-eating sycophants. Instead, Furi trusts the player to process a tiny allowance of raw actions into a dazzling exhibition of refined skill. With a Murderer's Row of bosses perfectly apt to oblige this exercise, Furi helps define a new aesthetic of rarefied action.

Furi is one of the most impressive releases of 2016, raising the bar for several genres just a little bit higher. The gameplay is tight, the soundtrack is pumping, and every boss has such an amazingly unique flair. If you have Ps+ then you're going to be treated to one of the best 'straight to PS+' releases since Rocket League, and if you don't then the game is well worth every penny.

Furi is an indie gem that will push your limits and reward you in the best ways possible with its tough difficulty and creative fights. With every battle comes a new challenge and a new opportunity to prove yourself with the thrilling and satisfying combat system. Mix in the surprisingly deep story and the captivating soundtrack and you have an excellent experience that pushes its ideas to the edge with style. Instead of being a mess that tries too many things, Furi amazingly focuses its gameplay on only several bizarre elements, but perfects them and makes an adventure like no other that you won't forget. Any action fan would be doing themselves a displeasure to not at least give this game a try.

Furi rewards patience, pattern recognition, and it’s stylish enough that it’s worth trudging through the frustration to see what happens.

If any of the references above tickle your taste buds, then Furi is a no-brainer. It’s a high octane blast of a game that will leave you feeling like a space samurai with a force to be wrecked with. It certainly isn’t for everyone, and by Odin, it can be quite the challenge, but its simple controls and fair but brutal learning curve definitely provides a rewarding learning experience. And, once you finish it for the first time, play through it again and see how far you have come. It may even tempt you into speed running the Furier mode.

I enjoyed my time with Furi. I also hated it. Loved the way your character moves the way you want him to, hated the way the bosses are so darn hard to beat. It’s the perfect game to satisfy your cravings for hard boss fights. Also the perfect game to destroy your controller. Or in this case, your Nintendo Switch.

Playing Furi is a considerable challenge, testing your reflexes, fighting some of the most charismatic enemies, accompanying the main character through a cryptic escape and, above all, having fun. An excellent game that we will surely play again.

I like seeing love letters to games many people enjoy. Furi looks, sounds & plays good and it has some known names to back that up. It draws heavy inspiration, sure, but Furi is its own art worthy of standing alone. Some players may find it short if they're wanting more than just battling opponents, but it does have style and is satisfying from start to finish. This is a badass indie gem that reminds me of something I should have played on Nintendo's GameCube.

I had a blast doing this Furi review. The game is very addictive, and it kept me going for a while as I defeated boss after insane boss. The character design is top-notch, the music is surreal and energetic but fitting, and the gameplay is fun and hectic. I highly recommend that you add Furi to your collection. You will not be disappointed!

Furi is an energetic, challenging boss rush game with an entertaining (and at times frustrating) mix of shooting and melee combat. If you missed this great game on previous consoles or PC, then go ahead and plunge into Furi on Nintendo Switch, you won’t regret it.
