Chime Sharp is a good, fun puzzle game that builds upon the ideas of its predecessors in all the right ways. It’s gorgeous to look at, each level flows with the consistency and rhythm that you’d hope for, and the soundtrack is one of the best in video games. It does get a tad tedious, and there are a few things they certainly could’ve done a better job explaining, but it’s well worth the ride if you like your puzzle games to be fast and challenging.

With throwback games being all the rage in independent development, many developers have chosen to go the 8/16-bit, pixelated, "ain't this cute?" route to tap into nostalgia while bringing along more modern systems and mechanics. Chime Sharp goes the opposite route; it may look like a modern game, but it feels like an older game in the best ways possible. With its highly accessible gameplay style and a difficult-to-master level of play, Chime Sharp is an easy endorsement for virtually all gamers.

Chime Sharp is maybe a tiny bit bare bones compared to its competitors, with no multiplayer and fairly short round times, but the focused precision really suits the game here, and it’s nonetheless a fantastic chillout puzzle game, one I highly recommend.

All in all, Chime Sharp is still a great puzzle game that is simple to play and fun to learn. Those in the zone moments are great, and the constant feel of "just one more try" is here and just as addicting as the previous games. Any puzzle fan out there should add this one to their library.

Puzzles genre have a new member. Chime Sharp wants to contribute new features in the genre with a minimalistic proposal in the visual section, but with a lot of game modes among which it is difficult not to find one that suits your tastes.

Chime Sharp builds upon the original Chime by stuffing it with more game modes and improving the presentation. The series once again brings a consolidation of simple, but addictive puzzle mechanics and a wonderfully pleasing dynamic soundtrack that combines together with the colourful visuals to deliver a challenging treat for anyone who likes a stimulating puzzle game with fantastic music.

If you do ‘get it’, then I can fully understand why you’ll probably adore Chime Sharp, but if you don’t, then, well, it’ll annoy the hell out of you before you get anywhere near a zen like state.

Chime Sharp is a powerful example of giving the player all the power they need to succeed. While at first it may seem a bit aimless, once you get a good grasp on what you're doing, it's genuinely exciting. With unlockable game modes for each track, and a great soundtrack, Chime Sharp is a casual game that should satiate any puzzle fan.

Chime Sharp is a very hard game to recommend to anybody who isn't a hardcore puzzle fan. If you are unfamiliar with the series, then you might find yourself quickly confused and frustrated. Players who "get it" will have a bevy of songs and modes to unlock for quite a long time. Anyone looking for a more laid back and casual experience should sharpen their senses elsewhere.

I liked Chime Sharp a lot. This feels like a game I could come back to repeatedly over the next year for a quick game or two. Its gameplay is quick and frantic but fun and elegant at the same time. I just wished they had spent a bit more time going over how to play the game and the rules in a tutorial, but it’s not a deal-breaker.

While the original title might not have held the spotlight for long, Chime Sharp hits all the right notes to make the sequel recommended. It’s a no-brainer for those who liked Chime, and those looking for a new puzzle experience and are willing to put a short amount of time into learning the game will get a solid game experience for about the price of a music CD on a store shelf.

WORTH CONSIDERING - Chime Sharp brings puzzle placing action into the music genre after a long hiatus from other platforms. It delivers a more refined experience than its predecessor from long ago, and certainly should whet the appetites for longtime fans. There’s a bit of a learning curve, and not everything is explained very clearly to new users, but it shouldn’t hold anyone back for too long. For fans of puzzle games, it’s a solid game to have in your library, but may be a bit niche for everyone else.
