I liked The Final Station’s pixelated graphics and its gameplay mechanics. The story is drip-fed here and there during your travels, and it’s a bleak one. Did I have fun writing my The Final Station review? Certainly! That’s why I can definitely recommend that you give this one a go on your PlayStation 4 if you’re looking for a new survival game.

The Final Station is all over the place, but it's still a super fun ride

The story was built up in a steady pace but it lost its charm by the time it reached the end with all the questions it left unanswered. It’s something a future patch may fix by providing an alternate ending or possibly a sequel or the same game but through a different perspective. It’s just a short and relatively cheap game on the market and we recommend it if you have the time or if you are interested enough to crack the story yourself.

I loved my time with The Final Station, and I can’t wait to see where it all ends. The gameplay is easy to understand, the graphics are great, and the game is fun. The one complaint I have about the game is that the typeset used is too small which makes reading messages and conversations very hard if you’re not sitting close to the TV. Other than that, after working on my The Final Station review, I can definitely recommend this one on PlayStation 4.

The Final Station pays its respects with an appreciative concision. Tough stages and scarce resources lend heavily to its survival-horror status and though the narrative can feel flawed, it offers numerable nods to the zompocalypse genre with a subtle, reflective tone.

The Final Station really became more about the mystery of what’s going on more than anything else. At first, it was just move the train and rescue the people. As I got more passengers and read more notes, however, I started to realize things weren’t quite as they seemed. At the end of the 4-5 hour journey, you might have a few more questions than answers, but overall the ride was worth the toll.

The Final Station is a short and ultimately unsatisfying, uncreative journey. It is a short trip, sitting at around four hours to completion, with no incentive for additional exploration or replays. It is priced a reasonably modest rate, to reflect this playtime and that is possibly what turns what may have been a sour experience into a forgettable one. The gunplay on show is fairly entertaining and the game looks interesting enough, but each of the stations do not present enough challenge or lore to make them rewarding or memorable.

The Final Station deserves credit for an original concept and some fleeting graphical flourishes.

By the end of this train ride I enjoyed my ride with it as it presents an interesting tale along with tense gameplay. I enjoyed searching through the different locations and trying to keep my survivors alive even though I didn’t always succeed. The controls could have been better as could the ending. I also feel like the game is a little high in price for the short run time and really the lack of replayability. As it stands though this is a train worth boarding if you want to experience an interesting post apocalyptic tale.

The Final Station is a 2D side-scrolling zombie survival game with enough challenging combat to offset its predictable pace.

The Final Station is an enjoyable romp for a one time through experience. It’s tense at times and has a unique idea for a gameplay loop, yet I do feel they could do more with it. If this is a foundation for perhaps a more elaborate sequel with more features and ideas, sign me up. As it stands, it’s still a fun take on the survival horror mold that worth checking out. It can start to wear out its welcome, but it doesn’t overstay.

The Final Stations has a poor and simple gameplay and lacks replayability. Playing the game again would mean struggling with controls and at times simply broken game. It has a few interesting factors like passengers themselves or a quest to keep them alive. The Final Station drowns, however, in the see of low budget 2D console titles.

A fantastic survival-horror-platformer with lots to explore and lots to kill.

The Final Station is yet another example of an Indie title with great ideas but not the best execution. The world is well crafted and its simplicity can allow anyone to get into it. But it's more important features like maintaining your train feel shallow and are a definite missed opportunity.

As video games mature as a medium of expression, it is understandable that stories outside of the conventional heroic yarn will become more common. The Final Station, alongside games like The Last of Us and, more humorously, the Grand Theft Auto franchise display the shadows of human nature so that heroism can be acknowledged and appreciated properly.

While it may look simple and even a bit silly on the surface, The Final Station is quite the captivating game. The story and survival aspects have been blended wonderfully, and it leaves you with plenty to mull over long after the credits roll.

The Final Station is a very well made game and one I thoroughly enjoyed. The game is creepy, has a great world and story that I'm still eager to see more about. While it had a bit of a slow start at first, the game quickly ramped up and kept me moving. While the pixel art appearance may be a turn off for some players, I feel The Final Station has a great retro look and style that meshed perfectly with the gameplay.

This game is so minimalist, yet so full of dark, foreboding atmosphere that I spent the whole time hunched over, tensed up as I made my way through this science fiction horror.
