There is a certain charm in attempting stealth in Shadow Tactics and with its focus on tactical aspects of combat, the story unforuately takes a backseat to the gameplay.

Despite its minor camera and screen tearing issues though, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is great for those looking for a challenge. Its mix of stealth, strategy and action is a highly enjoyable one, and with its wealth of missions and bonus objectives there's plenty to go at.

With a taste for the minute detail and a remarkable sense for level design, the obscure german developer put together 13 lovely, bloody tableau vivant with a japanese setting, whose shadows house a cabal of five well assorted blades.

Based Loosely on Japan's Edo period, Shadow Tactics is a great Stealth-Tactical Real Time Strategy game that reminds you of the good old Commandos series.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun brings a particularly brutal challenge, but at no point does it ever feel unfair. With some of the best stealth gameplay I have seen in a game for some time, and unusually large maps to utilise as a playground, there are many hours of fun to be had with this refreshing tactical showing.

Mimimi aus München haben die Echtzeit-Taktik würdig wiederbelebt und bis auf ein paar Kleinigkeiten prima an moderne Standards angepasst. Bitte mehr davon!

Shadow Tactics is a unique exploration of the stealth genre with a great amount of polish, but if you’re going to dive in, be prepared for just how deep the water is.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is a game hardcore puzzle types will enjoy, despite what any screenshot looks like, but any fan of RTS or even stealth games will be annoyed by the very narrow path of figuring out the current "stealth puzzle" facing them. If it is any indication of the slog that will be faced, a warning appears if you have not saved in over a minute. For the very narrow niche of puzzle gamers, they will enjoy figuring it out, but for everyone else, it is simply far too much guess-and-check, and the pure repetition grinds the player down.
