SUPERHOT (VR) Reviews
One of the best PSVR experiences to date,
If you’re after a virtual reality experience that is a bit different and won’t take ages to complete then Superhot VR is definitely that.
As short as it is, Super Hot VR is a thrill ride unlike any I’ve taken in the past few years
I feel like every gamer should find a way to play SUPERHOT VR, but they should really look to play the Rift or Vive versions if they can. While it still provided some of the coolest moments I've ever experienced in a game on PlayStation VR, it also provided some of the most frustrating ones. It's truly a masterpiece that is marred by being on a platform that just isn't technically up to the task. It's a showcase of not only what is so great about virtual reality, but also how it's still a piece of technology that isn't quite all there yet.
Despite the issues that I have with the tracking in the game, I still think that SUPERHOT VR is a game that all first year adopters of PSVR need to check out. Not only is it one of the most unique experiences I have had in gaming this year, it might be one of the most unique I have had in my entire life. While I think the game is probably much better suited on either of the other virtual reality headsets on the market, playing SUPERHOT VR on PSVR will still give you hours of enjoyment even if you do have to calibrate your device more than you'd like. DualShockers reviewed the original, non-VR SUPERHOT on PS4 earlier today — check out that full review here.
Still in its infancy, PlayStation VR is waiting for its killer game. Superhot VR is a solid contender, but one that falls short of the mark due to the hardware's imprecision.
SUPERHOT VR is a challenging but very fun game. Punch, slash and shoot your way through various levels of intense combat and bullet-dodging action. Multiple weapon types from the thrown shuriken to quick-firing uzis are available throughout this action-packed game.
Superhot VR is an absolutely fantastic experience that'll provide thrills for almost any gamer.
The PSVR version of Superhot could certainly use a patch to clean up the tracking, and introducing a difficulty setting which allows more forgiving continues wouldn’t go amiss, but when you’re in the zone and laying brutal waste to a level full of anonymous digital thugs, there’s a very special brand of wish fulfillment at work here.
Superhot VR should be the ultimate power fantasy. Being able to juggle four pistols, firing each one off while dodging a hail of bullets is just one of the many stunning set pieces I've relished in. However, when one cog in the machine gets caught, that absolute immersion slips away. If optimised better and with slightly reworked levels, this would be a PlayStation VR essential. As it stands, Superhot VR is still good though too inconsistent.
Superhot VR is a unique experience in virtual reality. Very few games give you the heart-pumping thrill that Superhot does and the issues that come with the tracking capabilities of the Move Controllers and PlayStation Camera do not stop it from being a game that every PlayStation VR owner should pick up.
Overall, Superhot VR is a really good way to experience the game, possibly better than the original, but it bothers me that it was censored so long after it came out. A toggle that allowed players to avoid sensitive content already existed, so it’s unnecessary to remove the graphic content from the game entirely.
Not the PlayStation VR killer app you might have hoped for, but still a clever and imaginative mix of shooter and puzzle game.
The brilliant moments are just not frequent enough to overlook the avalanche of issues that overwhelm the entire experience.
A fantastic puzzle/first person shooter for the PSVR with minor issues.
