Puyo Puyo Tetris feels perfectly at home on the Nintendo Switch; the nature of the game just seems to fit what the Switch offers. I would say that is the best way to experience such a fun game as Puyo Puyo Tetris, but I have to factor in the cost. It is more expensive, and if the price is a concern, then go with PlayStation 4 but the Switch remains my recommendation. Don’t write Puyo Puyo Tetris off as a simple puzzle game that you may have played before because it's far from it. It features numerous game modes that will have you entertained for hours with friends and without. It’s so easy to jump in and out of games that you could play it anywhere and I recommend doing so; it makes those early morning commutes go by in a flash.

They might be old game concept, but this Puyo Puyo Tetris fusion works amazing well for a lone player or with friends. SEGA has managed to create a new type of Puzzle game that works very well, whether you've played Tetris before, or never heard of Puyo Puyo. Adding to that the possibilities offered by the Nintendo Switch in terms of portability and local multiplayer, this is a sure pick for the new Nintendo console.

There’s plenty on offer in Puyo Puyo Tetris and it looks great whilst showing it all off. It’s not just a great modern upgrade of one puzzle game, but two. It may be the kind of thing that looks crazy on paper but somehow Sonic Team have made it work.

The crossover between the two classic puzzlers is a bit of a gimmick, but the huge range of modes for both games makes this the best version of either for years.

Still, cost and value are always considerations, and as we saw with Super Bomberman R, the retail variant of the Switch edition is rather overpriced at $39.99. Asking price drops to $29.99 on the eShop and with both versions on PS4, so if you don't care about jewel cases or own both systems, then it's clear what to do. That said, after testing the Switch version I do recommend handheld mode wholeheartedly, as I've only ever enjoyed puzzling on the go and it bolsters pickup-and-play exactly as needed. Regardless, this is a game that delivers exactly what's described on the tin, and if you enjoy those things, you'll surely enjoy Puyo Puyo Tetris.

Puyo Puyo Tetris is the not so trival encounter between two iconic puzzle game legends: a crossover full of options and possibilities that works well played alone, but becomes an absolute blast when played with friends (and therefore a perfect match for Nintendo Switch).

It's kind of costly – especially on Switch – but, as the author's kid asks, "can you really put a price on getting mom to play games with us?"

Puyo Puyo Tertis is a good crossover between two major IPs in puzzle games. Offering the classic of both of them, the game gives the opportunity of a genuine melting between the universes as well. Still, the slight advantage given to the Puyo Puyo combos provides a feeling of inequality between players. However, the provided game modes are fun and addictive. You can expect playing for long hours. Although a bit expensive on Nintendo Switch, the fans of puzzle games will be in heaven. Puyo Puyo Tetris is a must in its genre.

Puyo Puyo Tetris is a surprisingly convincing mix of two of gaming's oldest Puzzle Game franchises. The fact that the game lets players chose between Tetris, Puyo Puyo or a (well done) mix of the two makes for a fun experience. It must also be said that Puyo Puyo Tetris is best enjoyed on the Switch. The console's local multiplayer capabilities are clearly one of the game's strong suits.

Puyo Puyo Tetris delivers a wonderfully chaotic experience that combines the fast paced Tetris gameplay and the more strategic Puyo Puyo formula that has been a staple of the franchise since its 1991 debut. As someone who has been a fan of Tetris since I was a kid with a Game Boy, the thought of playing a new iteration of the popular franchise on Nintendo's Switch made me anxious. What makes Sega's reimagining so memorable is the inclusion of the Puyo Puyo gameplay.

Puyo Puyo Tetris is a great crossover with a fun story and enough modes to keep things fresh for quite some time. The only downside is that it is exactly what it advertises itself as, a mix of Puyo Puyo and Tetris. If that doesn't appeal to you, then you won't find much value in this package.

Puyo Puyo Tetris is almost like three games in one. You get two classic puzzle games as well as a fascinating amalgamation of the two. There's no shortage of modes, and the offerings make for a game well suited to both newcomers and old pros.Support for all of the Switch's various control options, with the exception of the console's touch screen, good online play as well as up to four player local multiplayer make Puyo Puyo Tetris a no-brainer for Switch-owning puzzle fans out there. Even if you aren't exactly crazy about puzzlers, the pick-up-and-play nature of this title makes it worth a look if you're taking your Switch on the go.

Puyo Puyo Tetris seemed like an unexpected crossover when it first hit Japan in 2014, and it still does now that it's come to the West. And yet, the idea has come together wonderfully, providing a release that has a lot to offer for fans of either game or simply the puzzle genre in general.

If you’re at all a fan of either game, or if you want your family to have something they can play easily together – there’s no doubt you should look into Puyo Puyo Tetris. I’m a little miffed that the physical version on Switch costs $40 when the digital versions are $30, so keep that in mind. Puyo Puyo Tetris is the first Tetris (and Puyo Puyo) game in ages that feels worth a purchase, and it’s recommended for any Switch owner looking to diversify their game catalog.

Puyo Puyo Tetris does a great job of combining two addictive puzzle games into a feverishly fun product. The story mode is surprisingly well done, and offers some nice replay value even for those familiar with both series. Alongside the healthy amount of unlockables, modes, and options, the online multiplayer in particular shines, being a huge source of entertainment. Even if you have little experience with Puyo Puyo or Tetris, this is a satisfying experience with plenty to offer regardless of skill level.

Puyo Puyo Tetris won't make converts out of those uninterested in Puyo Puyo or Tetris . Neither has been changed substantially for their latest outing. But those who still enjoy the occasional round of either puzzle game shouldn't hesitate to add the new mash-up to their PS4 or Switch collection.
