The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd provides a very fans-only story campaign that will satisfy anyone who's enjoyed the trilogy to this point. Even though assets were reused from the previous two games, it doesn't stop Trails in the Sky the 3rd from standing out on its own and giving each character a proper conclusion. I had to wait many years, but I'm glad to have finally been able to complete the Trails in the Sky trilogy.

Trails in the Sky 3 is a departure from its predecessors in more ways than one, and is undoubtedly the weakest of the three titles. However, the foundation of what made the first two titles feel special still remains with charming, multi-layered characters I've fallen in love with all over again, and writing that plays my heartstrings like a god damn fiddle.

_________________________ “The game this time around is more story and dialogue heavy, and I felt like it presented itself as more of a visual novel, however the battle system is quite good and remains mostly the same as the First and Second Chapter.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky the 3rd is a more than worthy continuation of the Trails in the Sky saga, tying up some loose ends from the previous game while setting up events for the following entries in the series. The dungeon crawler game flow of the 3rd may put off some, and the presentation may look outdated, but do not let this discourage you, as the game is one of the best Japanese role-playing games released this year in the West.

I won't try and argue that Trails in the Sky - the 3rd is a perfect game, but I will say that if you're a fan of JRPGs you absolutely need to play this game at least once. The 3rd is both a perfect send-off for Trails in the Sky, as well as a fantastic build-up for the titles to come. Just, hopefully, we'll be able to see ALL of them in English one day.

Even with the glaring issues, Trails in the Sky the 3rd is a charming videogame that has a lot of dedication and love put into it. The story of the game is certainly interesting for being an epilogue/spin-off.

Die-hard Trails fans will enjoy taking a deep dive into each character’s optional story scenes. Casual fans or newcomers, however, may find the side stories drag on way too long and will want to get back to the main story as soon as possible.

Trails in the Sky the 3rd is a bittersweet release that fans have been crying out for ever since completing the first two games. XSEED has delivered on a promise that many thought wouldn't be able to happen. A great send-off to a trilogy that introduced a ton of people to the franchise. Just be aware that a majority of the game takes place in one location. This is a must-play for anyone that has invested time in the first two games. Anyone else, I encourage you to hold off until after playing through the original two.

The 3rd gives its audience credit and delivers a fine reward for longtime fans, reasserting Nihon Falcom’s place as the contemporary masters of the genre. If you’ve played the previous games, don’t hesitate to get in on this adventure. If you haven’t, it’s certainly worth working your way toward.

There’s a lot of game for the price being asked, and if you’re up for it, it’ll be worth it in the long run.
