FIFA 18 still reigns as the best soccer game of this generation (depending on who you ask). Although The Journey mode does not bring the same impact from the previous installment, FIFA 18 is a great sequence and delivers the best addition of the last few years: the possibility of experiencing Alex Hunter's life out of the soccer field, showing more of his human side facing the difficulties that a player's career might present. FIFA 18 repeats its formula, with subtle improvements on gameplay, and brings what was already good (and bad) in FIFA 17, and fells much more like an update than a full game.

FIFA 18 is not the video game manifestation of the beautiful game I would have liked it to be, but as general entertainment, it is still pretty good.

FIFA 18 brings back Alex Hunter and makes his story better. With a detailed focus on the protagonist's many complicated relationships, this new Alex Hunter tale is the best narrative in a sports game. There are some smaller tweaks needed on the pitch that seem to be getting ignored, but FIFA 18 has hints that those issues are slowly being addressed. FIFA continues to be one of the best sports titles on the market.

It is the little things added to FIFA that always set the game apart. The stadiums, the feel of the game, even trash blowing across the pitch make you feel like you are in a real match. EA has been on a mission to make all of these elements a strong part of the game to put any fan into the match day insanity.

An improvement in every area, including The Journey mode.

Somehow, EA has managed to refine and hone the modern FIFA formula to an even greater degree with FIFA 18. Last year we questioned what more the developer could possibly do to keep the series from stagnating, and it turns out that making a slew of welcome smaller adjustments across the board can really impact the big picture. Some will roll their eyes, but FIFA 18 is yet another fantastic footie sim -- one that takes the ball from the already great FIFA 17 and runs with it.

By keeping the same old structure and applying some random changes into the gameplay, FIFA 18 has succeeded in offering a new experience. It may not be so flawless after all, considering it as a Football Sim, instead, the fast-paced gameplay and the exciting modes, make FIFA 18 one of the best sports video game one can afford to buy that'd entertain you for at least a whole year.

The Journey remains a truly immersive experience, the cut-scenes are well acted and put together, and the storyline is an enjoyable one.

Ronaldo and the boys take to the pitch in realistic fashion with fantastic visual representations across the field, though the same can't be said for the "improved" gameplay this iteration of the beautiful game.

Fifa 18 is the latest entry in EA's long running Football/Soccer simulation that aims to refine, add a couple new features and continue Hunter's story.

While you always know what you are getting with a FIFA game, this year delivers a highly polished and well refined offering with just the right amount of new.

In general we can say that FIFA 18 is a really well-studied title. The gameplay is great, although it remains on the arcade style, it is much more realistic than the past thanks to the excellent work implementation. As explained, the actions seem much more likely and fluid and this is also the result of the use of motion capture. Some defects persist, such as the absence of physics in rainy situations, or the little realism of the faces of some players. Overall, however, we have no doubts, thanks to its graphic rendering, its way and its wealth, FIFA confirms a very valid game.

Reward EA for improving defending and the overall ‘feel' of FIFA 18, or scold them for going extremely easy on any major innovation? Both, I think. It's a pretty good release this year; just expect the odd resigned sigh at familiar woes.

EA is famous for making incredible progresses every year on new chapters: game modes and technical side of FIFA 18 are amazing. This game is the top football experience that every fan should play!

"FIFA 18" would make for a great entry point to the series for those thinking of picking it up for the first time but also should prove satisfying to those passionate fans who purchase the games annually.

FIFA 18 on Switch does what it does very well, but it's hard to ignore just how much is missing. This really is the best FIFA on a portable there has ever been, and the most full featured, but compared to other console versions, it is lacking. Hopefully EA will continue the series on Switch and add some of that content back in, but for now, whether this game is worthwhile will depend on how you like to play it.

ifa 18 left me with a little bitter taste, while the game is really enjoyable to play the defending could have been much better. The atmosphere, visuals and sound are outstanding and the online play is unmatched and really fun.

With PES 2018 failing to capitalise and build upon on its predecessor, FIFA 18 does just that to great effect.

There are some elements that stiil need polishing, but that doesn't change the fact we got the most complete and fun FIFA entry in the history of the series.
