FIFA 18 is an unexpected step backwards from its predecessor. The Journey and most of the other modes got some unimaginative updates and the perfomance on the field is filled with inconsistencies in terms of player AI and the balance between attackers and defense that you wouldn't expect after FIFA 17. Fans of ultimate team and FIFA Veterans will still get some fun out of the countless game modes the game has to offer.

FIFA 18 is by no means a perfect game and there are problems in areas like defending. besides scoring with crosses is very easy and unbalanced. but despite all these problems, FIFA 18 has a great story mode, amazing atmosphere and in general represents football in a very beautiful way which makes it hard not to love this game.

There is no revolution in the gameplay but modern FIFA never needed one. This year's edition has a slower game pace, improved player positioning and more focus on individual player stats. Thanks to all that FIFA 18 remains as entertaining as ever.

FIFA 18 is what many folks wanted FIFA 17 to be. Overall, it's the best soccer game money can buy right now.

There are some elements that stiil need polishing, but that doesn't change the fact we got the most complete and fun FIFA entry in the history of the series.

With PES 2018 failing to capitalise and build upon on its predecessor, FIFA 18 does just that to great effect.

ifa 18 left me with a little bitter taste, while the game is really enjoyable to play the defending could have been much better. The atmosphere, visuals and sound are outstanding and the online play is unmatched and really fun.

FIFA 18 on Switch does what it does very well, but it's hard to ignore just how much is missing. This really is the best FIFA on a portable there has ever been, and the most full featured, but compared to other console versions, it is lacking. Hopefully EA will continue the series on Switch and add some of that content back in, but for now, whether this game is worthwhile will depend on how you like to play it.

"FIFA 18" would make for a great entry point to the series for those thinking of picking it up for the first time but also should prove satisfying to those passionate fans who purchase the games annually.

Reward EA for improving defending and the overall ‘feel' of FIFA 18, or scold them for going extremely easy on any major innovation? Both, I think. It's a pretty good release this year; just expect the odd resigned sigh at familiar woes.

In general we can say that FIFA 18 is a really well-studied title. The gameplay is great, although it remains on the arcade style, it is much more realistic than the past thanks to the excellent work implementation. As explained, the actions seem much more likely and fluid and this is also the result of the use of motion capture. Some defects persist, such as the absence of physics in rainy situations, or the little realism of the faces of some players. Overall, however, we have no doubts, thanks to its graphic rendering, its way and its wealth, FIFA confirms a very valid game.

Ronaldo and the boys take to the pitch in realistic fashion with fantastic visual representations across the field, though the same can't be said for the "improved" gameplay this iteration of the beautiful game.

By keeping the same old structure and applying some random changes into the gameplay, FIFA 18 has succeeded in offering a new experience. It may not be so flawless after all, considering it as a Football Sim, instead, the fast-paced gameplay and the exciting modes, make FIFA 18 one of the best sports video game one can afford to buy that'd entertain you for at least a whole year.

Somehow, EA has managed to refine and hone the modern FIFA formula to an even greater degree with FIFA 18. Last year we questioned what more the developer could possibly do to keep the series from stagnating, and it turns out that making a slew of welcome smaller adjustments across the board can really impact the big picture. Some will roll their eyes, but FIFA 18 is yet another fantastic footie sim -- one that takes the ball from the already great FIFA 17 and runs with it.
