While the changes across the board make for a better game than last year, there are still cracks that need cementing, not papering over. Evolution, not revolution this year for FIFA, then, but still a fine game fit to burst with things to do.

FIFA 18 is the best FIFA game in years. There are some obvious flaws — some of which are more frustrating than others — but as a complete package, the series is making progress, once again.

Whichever side of the footballing gulf you plant your neon footwear, there's no question that EA's behemoth delivers bang for its megabucks.

A revamped manager career mode and the second chapter of The Journey are both wonderful experiences, and while some aspects of gameplay have been addressed such as crossing and more tactical runs, there are still some glaring problems that weren't addressed. The game is still enjoyable, but this franchise can't rest on its laurels anymore.

Somehow, EA has managed to refine and hone the modern FIFA formula to an even greater degree with FIFA 18. Last year we questioned what more the developer could possibly do to keep the series from stagnating, and it turns out that making a slew of welcome smaller adjustments across the board can really impact the big picture. Some will roll their eyes, but FIFA 18 is yet another fantastic footie sim -- one that takes the ball from the already great FIFA 17 and runs with it.

Fifa 18 is just as good as expected. The physics is better than last year, and so are the visuals. A few weird bugs a side; Fifa 18 is a great game that will keep you busy until Fifa 19.

FIFA 18 plays an attractive and attacking brand of football that champions the pageantry of the game. But the Frostbite engine is the true star, offering up a staggering vision of "The Beautiful Game".

All in all, FIFA 18 doesn't feel like as drastic an improvement as its predecessor did over FIFA 16. Its improvements to offensive play certainly allow for some spectacular goals to be scored and help the fluidity of play.

FIFA 18 has come out fighting this year, with an improved game of football, another chapter in its excellent story mode, and more besides. It's still not quite there yet, failing to deliver something as fluid and immediate as it could be. There's ample room for improvement, sure, but FIFA 18 is still a genuinely marvellous footie game.

There is no revolution in the gameplay but modern FIFA never needed one. This year's edition has a slower game pace, improved player positioning and more focus on individual player stats. Thanks to all that FIFA 18 remains as entertaining as ever.

FIFA 18 may take a few steps back in the gameplay department but the well-written, multi-layered story that deals with Alex's life on and off the pitch is one worth experiencing.

With an improved story mode, polished visuals, and fluid gameplay, FIFA 18 is a solid upgrade over FIFA 17 and even its rival.

The game provided a good improvement on the gameplay style and offers more realism, but it doesn't match the slowdown with development for certain modes specially Career mode that should be giving the same caring the same as Ultimate Team, the big improvement this time with the TV presentation and the atmosphere in the stadium and these are the most points that The development team should be praised besides overall graphics improvements.

FIFA 18 is really fun to play, the smoothness of creating chances, dribbling and the new realistic animations makes it more fun than ever before. And I like how EA made improvement almost in every mode in the game.  The only issue is that with all the new additions to the attacking game style, it is harder to defend now, and sometimes players just do not respond to your actions which is frustrating. But still even with that, the game is so much fun to play for football fans and people who just want to play it.

If you're looking for a realistic football experience, you don't have any choice other than FIFA 18. Still, there's not so much innovation in game modes, except for The Journey.

FIFA 18 on Switch does what it does very well, but it's hard to ignore just how much is missing. This really is the best FIFA on a portable there has ever been, and the most full featured, but compared to other console versions, it is lacking. Hopefully EA will continue the series on Switch and add some of that content back in, but for now, whether this game is worthwhile will depend on how you like to play it.
