Super Mario Odyssey Reviews
Whether it is or it isn’t GOTY, it’s undeniably a charming platformer that ultimately deletes all of the frustrations we’ve had with Nintendo over the past couple of years, and is one of the best games of 2017.
After Super Mario Galaxy, you had to wonder what Nintendo could do to match such a title, but by avoiding trying to replicate those two Wii games, Nintendo went back to what was unfinished with Super Mario Sunshine and used that as a base to build upon more ideas and mechanics.
Super Mario Odyssey feels like a new glove that fits like an old glove, the new high point of a decades-long evolutionary process that is so smooth, so finely-tuned, that playing it nearly feels like an extension of yourself. It creeps up on you, the scale and design of it all, in a way that often doesn't dawn on you just how purely grand it is until you stop playing and reflect on your experience. In a year full to bursting of huge, great games, Super Mario Odyssey stands out by acknowledging what's cool and works about games today. It trims all the fat and doubles-down on not a gameplay loop, but a gameplay flow that feels effortless the whole way through. Even when you lose, when a challenging bit sends you sailing into the Nintendo-y abyss, you just keep going. Super Mario Odyssey is here to remind us how uniquely compelling jumping and flipping around a colorful video game space is and lets us indulge as long as we can stand it.
Mario's first turn on the Switch is fun, but lacks the innovation and creativity of Nintendo's best.
It's what gaming, in its purest form, is capable of being: fun.
The Nintendo Switch title has slick controls, amazing visuals and a charm (there's that word again) that I haven't come across before. The story is simple but supplemented with a large cast of new characters and worlds that expand the Mario Universe in a way that, hopefully, Nintendo can expand on for years to come. It's accessible for younger players and challenging enough for veterans.
Simply put, Super Mario Odyssey is the best game of 2017, and one of the greatest games of all time. Nintendo is on a roll. Long live the King.
Super Mario Odyssey does not disappoint. It's a worthy successor in Mario's 3D gaming line and a must buy title for the Switch.
Welcome home Mario! It's been awhile since a Mario game captured my heart and I think that Super Mario Odyssey is that game. Sure, there are elements of repetition but the gaming mechanics and controls are a thorough treat and if you're looking for a reason to purchase a Nintendo Switch, besides such as Zelda, this could really be the time to make the… uhh… SWITCH!
Super Mario Odyssey is a love letter to Mario’s past and offers a reward for exploration at every turn. It might be a long time until something this good comes around again.
Take the freedom of exploring every corner as you did in Mario 64 and Sunshine, add the skill and precision required by Super Mario Galaxy and the variety of 3D World, and you'll get the huge Super Mario Odyssey, the celebration of the videogame itself, not just of the firm's mascotte.

This is one of the closest things to the fountain of youth that I expect to come across.
Super Mario Odyssey is an incredible adventure that every Mario fan and Switch owner needs to experience.
Super Mario Odyssey is a culmination of thirty years of Mario, and a celebration of video games.
Mario has over thirty years of history behind him and yet Odyssey manages to mix those feelings of old titles with new ideas for a fresh take on a genre everyone is familiar with.
Super Mario Odyssey combines the spirits of Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine and adds new and fresh ideas to it. It not only is a perfect game but also the best Super Mario game you'll ever play!

Super Mario Odyssey is not just the pinnacle of the Super Mario franchise, but the pinnacle of 3D platformers in general. Great in its gameplay, design, and soundtrack, it's essential to any player.

Super Mario Odyssey is easily one of the best Mario games in a decade and Nintendo has crafted a game full of fun and surprises. It's a beautiful balancing act of the classic gameplay with new features so Odyssey feels familiar yet fresh. Cappy could be a gimmick addition but is actually a stroke of genius. Super Mario Odyssey is a must for Switch owners, young and old, and will no doubt go down as a classic.
Super Mario Odyssey is brilliantly bodacious, ingeniously incredible, and wonderfully wild from beginning to end.
