The Witcher III has a compelling plot, combined with some old school, complex game systems that encourage exploration, crafting and experimentation.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is more than just an incredible game that successfully brings lush visuals, tactical combat and a captivating world untainted with the issues that games of similar nature have when building such huge open spaces. It is also a respectful closure for Geralt, the series and its fans. Not only is the world a phenomenal character, but the narrative, the fleshed out side content and the character building weaved into this adventure are all purely excellent. With the consequences of morality playing a big part in the outcome of Geralt's adventure, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt sets a new bar for video game writing, and will have players sharing tales of their adventure – in one of the best role-playing games released – for many months to come.
You'll not want it to end, just like you didn't want your very favourite RPGs of years-past to end either. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will sit in that list now. There isn't any higher praise.
We're still left with a good RPG, but one that's held back somewhat by tedious quest design and an overreliance on sexist cliches.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt lives up to and surpasses the hype, delivering an excellent experience that won't be forgotten any time soon.
Even with these complaints, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the best RPGs I have ever experienced in gaming. There's so much to this adventure, you'd be missing out on a great experience if you pass it up. It's absolutely perfect for the current gaming drought, but even if it had hit with a handful of other triple A titles, I would still stand by this being the best game of the year so far, and it's going to be a tough one to beat.

The world and characters come to life in CDPR's conclusion to The Witcher trilogy. A few minor bugs can't ruin what is otherwise a masterful game. If only the combat was slightly better
Unquestionably a Game Of The Year contender
Those niggles aside, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an absolute triumph and the best open-world RPG around, maybe even the best altogether. The main story stays interesting, the side-stories are better than the main plots from most entire games, the characters and writing are wonderful, and the acting is massively improved from the last two games.
The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt is one of the best RPG's that I have ever played and after the previous game, I really didn't know what to expect because that game was so good. This game has got characters that you actually care about, a story that is very engaging from the get go and almost flawless gaming mechanics. The combat system works well, especially the varied enemies that you face as you attempt to locate your ward Ciri before The Wild Hunt finds her.
It incorporates so many different elements from so many games that it stands alone as it its own unique sub-genre. CDPR really created a masterpiece with this game, and while the combat can be a bit lacking at times and the controls are just frankly frustrating, they aren't enough of a blemish in the slightest to keep me from recommending this game to anyone.
A dedication to hostility keeps The Witcher 3 cohesive despite its sprawl
And for me, this is one of the most complete and fulfilling RPG experiences I've ever had.
With an abundance of things to do, great combat, engrossing narrative, and a fantastic world to discover, The Witcher 3 is the video game equivalent to an all-you-can-eat buffet. It's seemingly never-ending and always appetising - without the nasty side-effects that come with overeating. Quite possibly the best game we've played this year and the benchmark for everything else that follows.
The Witcher 3 is downright the best game I've played in recent years. I can't say any reason why a person should skip the game. As the few bugs here and there have mostly been fixed, the gameplay can go forward for hundreds of hours. For the $60 you pay for the game, you will gain immense value and other developers should take note.
I'm still far from the end. I will check in with further thoughts as I progress, but at this point I can unhesitatingly recommend the Witcher III as yet another on the crammed top shelf of excellent RPGs we've seen in the past 18 months. Buy it, buy it, buy it.
As someone who repeatedly had the Witcher series suggested by other reviewers and then digging in the heels and refusing to try it, what was missed was one of the best games created on a modern console. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt deserves all the plaudits it receives, and in its new next gen update, there really is no better way to experience it. Although lacking in new content, the quality-of-life features and sheer beauty of the whole thing make this well worth a revisit.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on PS5 is still the fantastic adventure that won over thousands of players in the last generation. It's basically one of the best games of all time improved in many points, such as loading, frame rate and graphics. The free upgrade just make things even better. However, don't expect anything new though – at its heart it's the same game we enjoyed in 2015 and its expansions later on.
