The story is a bit dull, featuring a "mysterious Pokemon" that really isn't that mysterious, even to casual fans like myself

Pokken Tournament DX is a wonderful game and maintains that goodness with the Nintendo Switch upgrade. It adds some more to the package, with characters and modes, but essentially delivers the same experience that you would find on the Wii U. New players will like it, but there may not be enough new content to warrant a Switch version in the household for some Wii U owners.

Pokken Tournament DX builds on the solid gameplay of the original while adding new fighters, modes, and challenges. Folks who already have the Wii version and aren't interested in the new characters can stay put with the game they already have. If you're a big fan of the series who wants to try out the new Pokemon and also play the game on the go on your Switch or never had a chance to play it on the Wii U, however, this is one evolution that you'll want to choose.

Pokken Tournament is a solid fighting game but this deluxe edition is very disappointing.

Pokken Tournament DX might not be a big jump in term of features from the Wii U version unlike Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but it does offer the best way to play the game. The additional new characters are fun to use and the Team Battle mode is a nice addition for multiplayer while utilizing the portable nature of the Nintendo Switch.

If you loved the first game and want to experience the game again with a much more thriving community of Switch owners, then Pokken Tournament DX should certainly be on your radar.

Pokkén Tournament DX serves as a definitive edition of Nintendo's fighting game, and it fits well on the Switch aside from choppy split-screen multiplayer. Five new characters and a new three-on-three mode are noteworthy additions, though the new challenge mode doesn't live up to its name.

I've attempted to stick to reviewing Pokkén Tournament DX on its own merits and not compare it too much with its predecessor. Of course this is the definitive version and superior choice. Fans of Pokémon will have a good time checking out the title. If there is any future content coming or major league gaming events, then it will have a bright future. Regardless, its entertaining gameplay should appeal to Switch owners and earn it a deserved fanbase.

With a decent sized roster of characters and enough content in the game to keep even the pickiest of fans satisfied, Pokken Tournament DX is one of a growing list of worthy ports from the Wii U. With a fresh coat of paint splashed over the top, this fighting game is one for both Pokémon and Tekken fans alike; and while the combat depth and lack of hands-on training may throw off a few people, the game makes itself accessible for all those who are chasing a good fighting experience.

Pokkén Tournament DX is a well made conversion which adds some interesting new features to the original game. Visually outstanding in portable mode, its fighting mechanics give a new twist to the genre.

A Pokémon fighting game may not seem like the most obvious spin-off idea, but the end result is a surprisingly fun and inventive multiplayer game.

Pokken Tournament DX definitely deserves attention. Strange choice of available pokemons, lack of clarity of the picture in TV-mode and forgettable music, of course, disappointed, but deep gameplay mechanics along with a beautiful special attacks can quite quickly grab you and make you return to the game again and again.

Although it doesn't improve much from the vanilla version, Pokkén Tournament DX is an enjoyable fighter that both Pokémon fans and fighting game fanatics will thoroughly appreciate.

Pokken Tournament is a fun fighting game that is perfect for casual play. While there is depth, and it can be a very competitive game, some players may find it too simple, and repetitive. The art direction is great, and the visual effects are a sight to behold. The new features are impressive and improve on some of Pokken’s biggest problems on Wii U.

Pokken Tournament DX is definitely worth the upgrade. The game has changed just enough to stay fresh and the five new characters, along with the Popplio and Litten assists that were introduced, freshen the game up enough to matter in the long run. Despite the changes, everything is familiar to old players, and while Pokken DX isn't all that welcoming to newcomers, those who put the time into the game will definitely find a wealth of enjoyment. Pokken Tournament DX is a game that deserves way more than what it got in terms of support, and hopefully, on the Switch, it will get it.

Pokk'n Tournament DX is easily the definitive edition of the game, thanks both to graphical enanchements and additional content. At its core, Pokk'n is a game that manages to appeal both to hardcore gamers and casual gamers, who will find themselves engaged by the accessible yet tactical gameplay.

Pokken is a fighting game that while decent could do with understanding that complexity doesn't necessarily equal depth.
