Developer: Subset Games

Genres: Roguelike, Turn-Based Strategy

The remnants of human civilization are threatened by gigantic creatures breeding beneath the earth. You must control powerful mechs from the future to hold off this alien threat. Each attempt to save the world presents a new randomly generated challenge in this turn-based strategy game from the makers of FTL.

Into the Breach is a single-player game coming to Windows, Mac, and Linux (although not simultaneously). Prunty, FTL’s composer, is making an original soundtrack for the game, and award-winning sound designers Power Up Audio are heading up the rest of the audio. Chris Avellone is lending his writing talents and world building skills to the team as well.

Key Features:
Defend the Cities: Civilian buildings power your mechs. You must defend them from the Vek and watch your fire!
Perfect Your Strategy: All enemy attacks are telegraphed in minimalistic, turn-based combat.
Build the Ultimate Mech: Find powerful new weapons and unique pilots as you battle the Vek across Corporate-Nation islands.
Another Chance: Failure is not an option. When you are defeated, send help back through time to save another timeline!

The wide variety of mech and pilot abilities make Into The Breach's tactical combat deep, satisfying, and replayable. Every turn creates a new complex puzzle, and though sometimes there's no perfect solution, finding the best way to minimize damage creates frequent eureka moments as you learn to make the most of the abilities you're given to work with. It's a small-looking tactics game that's kept me playing more intently than most big ones.

An almost perfectly formed strategy game, that hides near infinite variety and depth beneath its deceptively simple presentation.
