A great game in its time, but one that has not aged well enough for it to stand up today with just updated visuals, especially when the cutscenes are omitted from that update.

If you played Battlezone: Combat Commander back in the day, I'm sure you'll appreciate the work done here to bring it back though I'm not entirely sure it'll grab too many new players.

Battlezone: Combat Commander is a relic of its time. It's clear this is a love letter to fans of the original, a nicer way to play a game plagued with some unfortunate problems back when it was released. A.I. is okay. The story takes a while to get going. Some of the mechanics are clunky, and the presentation is basic apart from improved unit models and environments. Even though it wasn't quite as unique for its time as its reputation might claim, it has a level of complexity and strategy present that's not shared by its predecessors and very much stands tall, even today. I found it an enjoyable romp and feel it is definitely worth a look for RTS fans who want to try something a little different.

Battlezone: Combat Commander is a good remaster of a good game, but neither parts are perfect.

Overall, the game is nice and is very interesting. I enjoyed playing it and would definitely recommend it to my friends. It's worth it. If you're ready to ride some ships, build stations, and explore space terrains, then go check this game out!

The story is interesting and giving the FPS nature of Battlezone: Combat Commander, it feels much more 'personal' given the unique hybrid aspect of the game. The strategy elements and the FPS parts do not stack up to modern conventions, but are sufficient enough to work. The real appeal is the fact that this is a hybrid of two very different genres and, while not perfect, considering its 20 year age, it is worth checking out of if this mixture sounds appealing, as the story is indeed fun to experience.

Just like Rogue Trooper Redux and the recent Age of Empires remaster, the focus has been almost entirely on upgrading visuals instead of the gameplay. As a result, Battlezone: Combat Commander still feels like a game released nearly 20 years ago.

We'll just say that Battlezone Combat Commander is a remaster that gives with one hand and takes away with another, which makes it very difficult to completely fall in love with. But it’s not for everyone and that’s ok. This game deserves its second chance and it’s been made for those who’ve stuck with it since the beginning. This is their reward for years of patience and perseverance. In Battlezone Combat Commander they are going to find exactly what they’re looking for and it will have been well worth the wait.

An excellent remaster of an unappreciated classic from the PC's golden age, whose unique mix of genres seems more novel than ever.

Battlezone: Combat Commander is a Wing Commander-like experience in a tank. It features a neat story, updated graphics, and some gameplay that might not quite achieve the longevity of entertainment that it desires. It does contain some interesting features to try and keep the gamer engaged, but depending on expectations of the gamer will equal out to whether that engagement holds up.
