Not even the Mayan Apocalypse can scare off Lara Croft this time as part of her darkest outing to date. Though the gameplay is very familiar, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is an action packed adventure that does a fantastic job of wrapping up the first trilogy for reboot Lara Croft.

While I just want to outright say that Shadow of the Tomb Raider is an excellent game, it’s honestly not the final message I took away from this series. The most striking take away for me has been the evolution of the character of Lara Croft, developing from a video game sex symbol in the ’90s to a legitimate heroine in the 2010s. While Lara is still sexy, it’s not her looks that define her character in a singular dimension. Her intelligence, strength and tenacity are all equal and make up the sum of her parts far more. I’m sad to say goodbye to Lara for now, but I’m also thankful for the experiences I’ve had playing these games. Lara has defined a generation of aspirational women, and I’m excited to see what awaits her in the future.

Lara’s challenges and sacrifices all come full circle here, even offering a bit more light on her past. With Lara’s new origin story coming to a close, one must wonder where the developers want to take her next.

Lara Croft has always been one of the heroines and one of the biggest icons of video games.

It starts off a little slow, but the game’s pacing and story make Shadow of the Tomb Raider the best entry in the current trilogy, which I would argue is even better than the Uncharted trilogy.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a fun experience and does well to cater for fans

Shadow of the Tomb Raider‘s sense of familiarity is so strong that it might have been better as an expansion along the lines of Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. That game also took place largely in one environment and felt exactly the same as the game that preceded it. At least The Lost Legacy came with a lower price tag and online multiplayer and its shorter length made it feel less dragged out. Ultimately, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a by-the-numbers sequel to Rise of the Tomb Raider, capitalizing on the great puzzle tombs but failing to take any other worthwhile steps forward.

the journey of Lara was still one I’m happy to have gone on, and though the execution may be a little lacking I’m still looking forward to seeing where Lara will go from here, because I’m not ready for the journey to end just yet.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the final entry into the Origins Trilogy of Lara Croft with a compelling story and some of the best character seen in the series. It features some great stealth combat, excellent puzzles, and fun platforming. It is a worthy entry into the series and might be considered as the best one yet.

When you have dozens of ways of taking them out, enemies become little more than fodder for your sadistic amusement. And that’s unnerving, for while this iteration of Lara Croft has always straddled the line between adventurer and mass murderer, Shadow of the Tomb Raider decidedly tips the balance into making her a true terror.

Lara’s dull characterization mixed with limited exploration and repetitive sequences makes Shadow of the Tomb Raider the weakest entry in the reboot trilogy.

In conclusion we can say that we are facing an interesting chapter that certainly has a lot to show, but which, once again, sins in excellence. The tip that makes it special is still missing. A real shame because, this time, there were all the premises for a twist. Instead, despite the various improvements, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, he could dare a little more. The narrative moves smoothly, but leaves behind some details and sins in deepening the psychology of the characters. On the other hand, congratulations go to the technical sector, which proved to be excellent under almost all points of view, both in terms of texture and fluidity of the stock. In any case, a title to have, try and continue to play to explore each area, to be recovered if you have enjoyed previous productions.

It is by no means a bad game but due to its lineage, its problems seem much greater than they should. I, without a doubt, enjoyed my time within the game, but at the same time, I felt it could have been just that bit better, that bit more refined. As a result, I was never hooked in the way that I was with Rise of the Tomb Raider and it left me feeling a little down. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is well worth playing and it is an entertaining game, it just isn't as good as it could have been and that is a giant shame.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider may be the best in the trilogy, a high action adventure against which all future entries must now be measured.

Picking up after the events of the previous game, Lara and her best friend and long time expedition companion Jonah Maiava are in pursuit of Trinity in Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Initially searching for a relic capable of “reshaping” the world in Mexico, Lara soon discovers removing it from its resting place has triggered a Maya apocalypse. Only with a second relic can she hope to save the planet from destruction, and her mission takes her to the jungles of Peru in search of answers.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is one of the best third person action games that has released this year. Sure, it has a few issues with it’s chatty Lara, too many collectables, low-quality NPCs, and pointless weapons, but as a whole, the game is a really fun experience with a nice balance between puzzles and combat. The puzzles will have you thinking as they are much more interactive and advanced than the previous two games, but the combat will leave you feeling disappointed by the end as it plays on stealth mechanics without the ability to even hide bodies.

Unfortunately, Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a classic third episode as you only know it from hollywood: working mechanics were made worse, the story is too slow-pacing or without highlights and the whole game feels like a downgrade in comparison to its predecessors. Sure, the game is not bad after all and you are going to have a lot of fun with it, but it simply doesn`t feel that round as it could be. Anyway, fans of the genre and Miss Croft shouldn`t miss out the third embodiment.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider has some of the best visuals and sound of any game this year. This last entry in the trilogy has improved every aspect of the previous two games while adding some new ideas. Exploration is both thrilling and satisfying, and the excellent tombs are enormous puzzles waiting to be discovered and conquered. Other than a few minor audio and video flaws, the story and characters fall just a little short of greatness, but that won't keep you from enjoying an amazing game. In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara finally realizes her full potential, and it is quite the ride.

Shadow of the Tomb Raider is a fantastic finale to an amazing trilogy! The game is graphically stunning and delivers a crisp and thrilling storyline that will entertain for multiple playthroughs. Few games this year have had me on the edge of my seat as much as this. If you like games with a great storyline and a constant thrill than this is the game for you!

Lara has survived unbelievable disasters and defeating supernatural and deadly enemies since her return in 2013. Shadow of the Tomb Raider ends this amazing trilogy with a bang. It doesn't try to revolutionize the formula that made the reboot such a hit or make the massive leap that Rise of the Tomb Raider did, but instead combines all the elements found in these 2 adventures while adding small touches to make it both distinct and familiar. Shadow of the Tomb Raider provides a combination of Lara's last 2 adventures for one outstanding finale.
