Super Destronaut DX

Super Destronaut DX is one hell of a retro inspired title. Be sure to pick it up if it sounds like something you'd be interested in; you won't be disappointed.
Online leaderboards ensures that it has a bit more longevity, something that was incredibly lacking in the Wii U game. The presentation hasn't improved too much sadly, and it is more irritating than it should be. In any case, if you are in need of an arcade style game, you can do far worse than this one.
The nostalgia factor in Super Destronaut DX is very high since, as I've mentioned before, it will remind most of you of Space Invaders, which is definitely not a bad thing! The colorful art style, solid gameplay mechanics, and the shiny (double) Platinum trophy at the end of the road will keep you very happy, and you can't complain about its budget $4 price!
The DX is a difference here, making for a more enjoyable game all around. It's had a modest price increase, but still comes in at only $4.99, with enhancements to justify the cost. Super Destronaut DX is a simple, but fun game. It's not the sort that you'll play at length (to limit repetition) but it does make for an entertaining way to pass some time.
Super Destronaut DX is a nice modern take on the 80’s classic Space Invaders. The game focuses on quick, fast-paced scenes as you slaughter the enemy ships with your standard gun or one of the various upgrades which drop when you defeat a boss ship. The challenges will keep you entertained the longest, with their ever-increasing difficulty and challenge. The other modes will also offer you a decent amount of enjoyment as well, unless if you’re simply looking at trophy hunting.
In the end I’m very torn on Super Destronaut DX because so much about it works very well but given its simplicity just a few major problems really drag it down. It looks and sounds great, is pretty well ideal for play in handheld mode, and the multiple modes and online leaderboards are great touches. However, the constant stream of incoming grey ships that you can’t shoot and must keep track of to dodge on top of the main action just feels a bit cheap as a distraction. The worst is really the lack of consistency in the otherwise excellent Challenge mode when you get down to the last handful of stages. But if you’re a big fan of arcade action, even with these issues it is still probably well worth picking up.
Super Destronaut DX is a modern take on classical shooters. It's an ideal and modernised mix of Space Invaders and Galaga, making it pure fun. The only downside is that this style of gameplay didn't age well in the age of full 3D titles.

It's not bad, but it's overdone.
Super Destronaut DX is a fine little package offering a variety of modes and a modern presentation for a classic style.
With nothing to keep you coming back after you've earned all the achievements, the game will sadly only be played for an hour or so before it is put back on the shelf and forgotten about.
