Project Warlock Reviews
In the end though, perhaps what sets apart Project Warlock from the very recent old-school shooter renaissance we've been seeing is that outside of inspiration and certain elements it doesn't look any one thing from the '90s. Which in the end makes it special, and something well worth checking out.
Project Warlock is a blood-splattered love letter to retro-shooters, but still there’s plenty here to hook you even if you’ve never experienced the titles that inspired it. A glorious, gruesome outing, Project Warlock is sometimes unforgiving, but once you push past the first few levels, it’s a bloody joy to play.
A real love it or hate it type title, Project Warlock will only appeal to a certain subsect of shooter fans. Those that like their action straightforward with no frills. Those that prefer the days where plot and visuals took a backseat to gameplay. The poor performance and lack of interesting narrative remain hard to overlook, though.
By no means a bad game, Project Warlock can definitely be fun, but its many rough edges mar the experience, and fun soon gives way to annoyance. While the ultra-retro style is neat, and the gunplay is great, in the end these alone can't help much with the repetitive and simplistic level design, or how often bullets tend to hit thin air, and how unnecessary a permadeath system feels for such a game. Here's hoping the developer team understands what made titles like Doom so darn enjoyable, and create a much better sequel.
Warlock's project is a very good game, but unfortunately, the lack of Quick Save, the length of the steps and its repetition in the second half have made it impossible for the game to reach its desired position. However, if you love classic shooters, this title will keep you entertained for a while. Project Warlock has tried to revive the memories of classic shooters, and it must be admitted that it has succeeded in its goal, although it has some drawbacks.

Project Warlock wears its 90s first-person shooter influence on its sleeve. It's fast, violent and perfectly paced—a must play, whether you harbour fond memories of its inspiration or not. Besides some minor setbacks caused by level design quirks, Project Warlock was pure, unadulterated fun from start to finish.
If you played first-person shooters in the early '90s then you'll love what Project Warlock offers with its fantastical spin on the genre.
Project Warlock pays tribute to the early ’90s first-person shooters while freshening the experience through its use of RPG mechanics.
Project Warlock is a gem that borrows influences from the greatest FPS titles of our past and throws in a unique presentation with an added dose of magic. The arsenal of weapons and spells allows you to approach the action how you wish, and it continually feels rewarding.
Simple, fun, frenetic, akin the greatest of his genre like old-school DOOM and Wolfenstein.

Buckshot Software has made a remarkable FPS that pays tribute to the classics of the 90s. Colorful artistic section, sugarcane soundtrack and satisfying and fun weapon control. A more complex level design and a more updated saving system have been the only drawbacks that have taken it away from a somewhat higher score.

Project Warlock is an old but refreshing old-school FPS game that feels right at home on the Switch. If you’re not a fan of this genre, then this game is unlikely to change your mind. But fun gameplay with a welcome progression system make this an FPS not to be missed by fans of old-school shooters. The references to the past are great, but Project Warlock stands alone as its own game too. It’s a great little game to enjoy in handheld mode or blown up on the TV. Nostalgia guaranteed in all the right ways.
Project Warlock is a frenetic 3D shooter for all fans of classic FPS games that offers perfect retro atmosphere and hectic action. Too bad the designers didn't avoid some unnecessary design flaws.
