A beast of an engine and impressive systems are behind Call of Duty: Modern Warfare but the multiplayer is mostly filled with design frustration and as hard-hitting the single-player feels, it's ultimately filled with no substance and afraid to make the hard choices it asks of its characters.

Infinity Ward the producers behind the first Call of Duty, and possibly the most successful and critically acclaimed Modern Warfare games (Modern Warfare 1 & 2) are at the helm again taking us back to our favourite protagonists in the franchise.

Aside from the broken co-op mode, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare turned out very well. However, we should remain wary of Activision's monetization practices that aren't present in the game yet but if the previous entries in the series can be an indication, it's only a matter of time.

Infinity Ward has achieved with this reboot create the best Call of Duty of the entire saga. An outstanding game in all its sections, with a story that catches you and a multiplayer capable of burying you in content. Without a doubt the shooter of the year.

Modern Warfare is a reimagining of arguably the franchise's best games. And I hope that it is the first step in a new direction for the series in terms of quality. The graphics and sound are the best in the entire series. The single-player campaign is exhilarating, exhausting, and moving in some instances. The multiplayer and Spec Ops are a little weak at launch, but will no doubt be bolstered with more fan feedback and continued support by the development team. Modern Warfare is a game for a modern generation, and I can't wait to see where it goes in the future.

I would certainly advise hardcore fans of the series to pick this game up, as the overall experience feels more polished than ever. Even if you are not a COD fan, this might be the perfect time to jump in the universe, meet Captain Price, and crush your enemies.

While I’m unsure if this will pull in new fans of the original Modern Warfare series, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is something that works perfectly for longtime players and fans looking for a solid story and new challenges.

The story is meant to be controversial, pulling on the heartstrings of the player to tell a story of why war today is so much more convoluted than it used to be. In the story, many characters go through challenging moments that make the player ask whether they can handle making the hard decisions. While the story gets dark with instances of torture and terrorist attacks, the game feels like it was scared to go all the way, holding back when situations should have pushed for more. Although the story has tropes and moments of gamification, the plot is still incredibly relevant and thought-provoking. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare may be the best in the series.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a true return to form for this series in almost every way and will go down as one of my favourite games of 2019

Despite a campaign story that lacks moral ambiguity despite it being promised and an okay cooperative mode that needs a lot of work, Modern Warfare (2019) is one of the strongest Call of Duty games this generation.

A non-stop thrill ride that rivals anything Hollywood can offer.

As a soft reboot, Infinity Ward kept the better aspects of Call of Duty (i.e. tight controls, high production value, loads of content) and smoothed out some of its blemishes (i.e. overly simplistic storytelling and an over-reliance on extreme drama). It’s a solid game that mixes things up a little bit but not too radically.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare plays out like an ode to the old days of Call of Duty. Both the Campaign and multiplayer modes feel more like the games in the original trilogy than anything the Call of Duty team has put out in recent years, and that is a good thing.

Overall, I really have enjoyed my time with this game. The campaign was very enjoyable and definitely worth a playthrough. The voice acting was spot on and the visuals were amazing. Obviously, the multiplayer is the bread and butter of this franchise, and I have really lost track of time during my gaming sessions playing this. While it does have its flaws, I find the positives outweighing the negatives and with all the updates that Activision has been pumping out, the negatives will soon be an afterthought.

A passable entry in the long-running series, the latest Modern Warfare is polished but lacks creativity. It’s certainly more of the same as a return to a once-beloved sub-series.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is not a remake, nor a reboot, nor a remastered. So what is it? Let's continue reading this review and we'll find out soon. Well, we could improperly call it a zero point. A new start, given that probably next year we will already have a CoD on PlayStation 5.

It can be said that after a long time Call of Duty has been able to present a fascinating and controversial story segment with in-depth characters. In addition, the multiplayer section has enough content to entertain the audience for a long time, but the poor design of the maps has reduced the fun of the game. The Special Ops section, despite its high potential, has not yet reached the standard level that a collaborative shooter should have. With all this, the gameplay is loyal to the early versions of the series, and if you're a fan of Modern Warfare and even Call of Duty, this style shift and slower but tactical gameplay can give you great fun.
