Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is one of a kind, but it works more in theory than in practice.

The things that make Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey so appealing are the same thing that make it frustrating. Many things stand in the way of your progress, many of those things being mechanics, and rewards come sparingly. At the same time, there is something wholly unique here that, if you can properly sink your teeth into it, you could find yourself completely engulfed in it.

Initial bewilderment gives way to fascination as you understand what Ancestors is trying to do, but fiddly controls and a lack of hand-holding leads to frustration

The Biggest problem with Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is that it gets boring and repetitive really fast. It is a great audio/visual experience and the sense of discovery is quite fun at first but sadly the core gameplay just isn’t that interesting.

Ancestors The Humankind Odyssey is a unique game. You must guide your clan through time and evolution, which is fun with lots of experimentation. There's also a lot of frustration to be had however. Still, the game offers a special experience.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is quite a nice game if you are willing to spend time to learn it. It's not easy, because of lack of communication with player. If you dare though, it will provide satisfying and one-of-a-kind gameplay experience.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is a different kind of survival game, one that's ambition sees it continually ride a fine line between being enthralling and infuriating. To refine 10 million years of human history into roughly 50 or so hours of playtime (providing your clan survives) is a staggering feat, for sure, but some mechanics are so abstract that it'll leave certain players at a loss. Providing you have the patience for it, however, Ancestors can be a rewarding trip throughout human evolution.

Ancestors rejects mass appeal and instead favors a grueling but awe-inspiring look at our earliest ancestors.

If Panache can squash most of the bugs, this could be a Game of the Year contender. As is, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is still well worth monkeying about with and I know I’ll be coming back for more.

A survival game that feels like a puzzle and plays a bit awkwardly. Overall, a brain-burning but enjoyable experience.

Ancestors Humankind Odyssey is a game which we embody the deans of humanity, immersed in the fascinating, extremely immersive and often moving adventure of the great story of life. However, Panache Digital Games has not completely managed to offer a game always technically up to the originality of his proposal. It is nonetheless a singular experience that arouses great sympathy and for which it would be a shame to miss out, especially if the few really disabling design flaws were to be corrected soon.

Ancestors is a large, fussy, and at times uneven survival experience, but it's also deeply gratifying once you sink your teeth in. Make it through the wringer, and you'll come out wanting to share stories about your run-of-the-mill open-world exploits to anyone who will listen – no small feat in 2019. The console versions are smoother than their original PC counterpart, so if you've been curious, now's the time.

In Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey, survival is easy once you decipher the basic mechanics of evolution and sit through the cutscenes, but the journey is full of moments of discovery.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey takes us on an incredible journey through the beginnings of man and his odyssey. In this game of survival and action, we will have to complete our evolution and brain enhancement to survive in hostile environments. In spite of its good ideas, it has a complex beginning and sins of certain repetitiveness that extends throughout the game, in addition to a handling that can give us many problems. Otherwise, a good option for those who want something different and with teaching

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is not a game for anything perfect, but it is an innovative project that gives us some fresh air, leaving behind many of the dynamics already seen in games of the same genre.

Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey is an interesting Title with a fascinating Setting and an exciting micromanagement, but due to his repetitive character, the game blocks itself from turning into a potential hit. Friends of survival adventures, who want to have a unique setting, should give the title a try because of the motivating generations-system.
