In Other Waters Reviews
In Other Waters definitely doesn’t do a good job of engaging you right from the get-go with its radar-like visuals and confusing interface. However, if decide you to stick with it, you’ll end up being rewarded with a surprisingly interesting story and a gameplay loop that’s way more immersive than I could have ever imagined.
As much as I’m willing to sacrifice depth in gameplay for a satisfying story, I should never feel frustrated as much as I did while playing this.
In Other Waters is a game that knows full well who it’s for. Its relaxing style, UI-based gameplay, and descriptive biological writing all come together to instil a sense of adventure.
This is a truly lovely game that shows us it doesn’t always have to be about guns, explosions, and epic battles to be compelling and interesting. If you’re looking for something a little bit different on Switch, In Other Waters should be right near the top of your list. It looks and plays like nothing else out there right now and that’s both refreshing and exhilarating in of itself.
Hypnotic art, otherworldly audio and captivating writing meet in an undersea exploration game that wants you to take your time.
It is really very good, though. It’s very meditative. Calming. It’s possibly exactly what you need right now.
The concept behind In Other Waters is quite interesting, but its mechanics create a game that might not be attractive to a lot of players due to its slow pacing in a mechanic and a narrative way.
