New Game Network's Reviews

65 / 100 - Shadowgate
Sep 7, 2014

Shadowgate wants to remind players of what games were like twenty years ago, albeit with a fresh visual covering. The improved presentation is a welcome addition, but the unevolved gameplay and story will tend to feel outdated. In the end, it feels overpriced for a single jolt of nostalgia.

A slight stumble here and the The Wolf Among Us has beaten the Walking Dead Season 2 at its own game. Traditional gameplay is stripped down to the bare minimum in favour of choices. Some of these are fantastic in their unforgiving nature and the journey you'll take Clem on is full of drama and heart-break. The new cast are a miserable bunch of bickering bores though that will make you pine for the fallen friends of Season 1.

For newcomers, Infamous: First Light serves as a taste of the full experience in Second Son, complete with its highs and lows. Existing fans looking for more content will get the most out of this downloadable title, but will be disappointed that some of the concerns were not addressed.

The biggest and most refined entry in the series, Risen 3 offers up a large helping of quality RPG content that will keep you playing even in the face of an underwhelming main storyline and a couple half-baked mechanics.

A fun and colorful shooter with unique visuals that's easy to get into. The gameplay mechanics are basic so players looking for something more may be underwhelmed; everyone else will be having too much fun with their customized characters to care.

74 / 100 - Hohokum
Aug 21, 2014

Hohokum is a really fun title to jump into and play around with. It's a toy. It's an experience. It's gorgeous. It fails only when it tries too hard to be a game without helping the player out.

73 / 100 - Abyss Odyssey
Aug 7, 2014

The best parts about Abyss Odyssey are those in which it is utterly unique: a Mediterranean fantasy setting, a brightly pastel art style, and a fun mix of roguelike randomization with fighter-game mechanics. That said, none of these points make the game engaging enough to have your friends come back for more in-house fun.

71 / 100 - So Many Me
Aug 3, 2014

So Many Me is a cute, colorful game that will leave you smiling one minute, then gritting your teeth the next. It's a nice addition to the puzzle-platformer genre but more polished mechanics would go a long way in making it less frustrating in certain areas.

72 / 100 - Tropico 5
Aug 2, 2014

Taking control of El Presidente and ruling over a sunny paradise used to be a unique guilty pleasure for RTS fans. Tropico 5 retains some of that, and newcomers might appreciate the gameplay alterations, but overall the franchise seems to be slipping.

Despite those trademark Telltale technical glitches, The Wolf Among Us is an essential purchase and exceeds the studios' previous efforts in gameplay, visuals and voice acting. The impact of choices you make in interrogations, conversations and crime scene investigations will keep you hooked right until the end.

I wanted to like Gods Will Be Watching more than I did. It was let down by a few technical issues, and one chapter in particular was highly frustrating. Overall, it's something a bit different and well worth checking out.

52 / 100 - Infinity Runner
Jul 22, 2014

Starts off at a fundamental disadvantage merely because of its formula, but could still have maybe succeeded at being a fun little arcade title were it not for the shabby presentation, laughable storytelling and numerous poor design decisions.

Divinity: Original Sin is a detailed and engrossing RPG with great combat and a healthy dose of charm, but the weak central narrative, goofy tone and myriad moments where you don't know what to do or where to go greatly mar the experience.

58 / 100 - Wayward Manor
Jul 18, 2014

For a game with such a well established author behind it, Wayward Manor is a little disappointing. However it is quite endearing. Perhaps a game to be played with your children, rather than viewing it as a fully fledged puzzle game.

74 / 100 - Armillo
Jul 16, 2014

Armillo is a fun puzzle-platformer that has a lot going for it. Great level design, mechanics, and music are only bogged down by the poor physics in the bonus stages and certain "Dark" areas.

An emotional, rewarding take on the Great War in a medium that often glosses over the horrors of battle. Beautiful, sad, triumphant.

57 / 100 - GRID Autosport
Jul 12, 2014

Reusing tracks drags the career down and highlights other flaws. Multiplayer has good features, but is hurt by paltry income and wait times. GRID Autosport is a disappointing racing grind that falls well short of the original.

70 / 100 - Sniper Elite III
Jul 6, 2014

Sniper Elite 3 puts in a respectable effort to improve on its predecessors, with bigger levels and more gameplay variety, but is ultimately let down by bugs and a lack of polish.

While the title attempts to do right by Cybertron fans, it ends up making a mess of things. The core gameplay isn't bad, nor is the structure of the game itself, but it is simply boring. Mix boring with the game's technical flaws and there's not much to love about Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark.
