Honestly, if you’re really into horse racing, just stick on Forza, or The Crew, or any racing game and, I don’t know, pretend they’re horses instead of cars or something. Trust me, it’ll be much more enjoyable.

The bosses are easily forgettable, and are so simplified that the fights are actually more mindless and tedious than traversing your way through a level

3 / 10 - Fat City
Feb 2, 2016

[The planning phase] of Fat City is easily the most fun but, to be fair, it’s never really a challenge

I felt more like I was being told a pretty boring story with sub-par pictures rather than becoming a criminal mastermind who got away with murder

3 / 10 - Orc Slayer

3 / 10 - Momentum

Momentum requires pixel perfect movement and precision to the point of insanity. The only option for progress is through trial and error. Over and over and over

3 / 10 - NotCoD
Jun 2, 2016

While [NotCoD] does offer a campaign mode and a similar ‘zombies’ mode, both are completely unaware of what makes shooters fun. Or maybe it’s just that they don’t care

Paranautical Activity is not a good looking game. Imagine Doom remade in Minecraft by a blind man an you’d be about there

Where some scenes raise a bit of a smirk, most of them fall flat. One character just ripped lines from Monty Python over and over again

Between the bland visuals, the uninspired soundtrack, the unoriginal characters and lacklustre plot, Asdivine Hearts offers nothing compelling to fans of the genre.

3 / 10 - Yasai Ninja

Not only is the gameplay very generic, extremely frustrating in places and frankly quite tedious, it also has some other serious issues too

Even with AI difficulty set to Easy, prepare to lose more than your fair share of matches, and you'll probably give up playing long before you've put in enough time to become a master of the game

4 / 10 - Kamio Recoil
Jan 11, 2017

Kamio Recoil has, at its core, a solid concept, yet the execution of this concept is deeply flawed. Its clunky mechanics, awkward controls, infuriating enemies serve to stifle any appeal it might have had.

4 / 10.0 - Do Not Open
Nov 28, 2022

It’s debateable whether most players will have the patience and persistence to see Do Not Open through until its end. It’s a shame, because the premise here is interesting, and the puzzles themselves are mostly clever and fun to solve. The entity is its downfall, an ill-conceived obstacle that’s relentless and a little bit broken. Rather than make Do Not Open scary, it makes it needlessly frustrating.

4 / 10.0 - Saint Kotar
Nov 23, 2022

It’s clear that Saint Kotar has tried to draw inspiration from the likes of Broken Sword. From the way its exploration works to its dark themes and eerie environments, it really wants to be a point and click game worthy of cult status. That’s highly unlikely to ever happen, though. While interesting at times, its story is too poorly told to ever be truly enjoyable. And the ugly visuals, awful voice acting and budget interface mean most players are not likely to stick around.

You can have some fun with Winter Games 2023, especially with its inclusion of curling, but on the whole it’s very disappointing. It’s a pity, because there really is a winter games-shaped hole in the market. Most players seeking wintery fun are perhaps better off jumping into Steep along with its Road to the Olympics expansion. But if you really love curling, Winter Games 2023 might be worth picking up at a steep discount.

4 / 10.0 - LEGO Brawls

After Wave: Downfall isn’t a game we can recommend. There are plenty of other vertical scrolling shooters out there, and many of them are more worthy of your time and money. Still, if you do happen to pick it up you might have some fun with it, and it’s at least got an original premise at least. But with its various issues, it feels very much like a missed opportunity.

Krut: The Mythic Wings isn’t a terrible game – there’s nothing outright awful about it – but it’s sub-par in every single way. So, unless you’ve seen the animated film that it’s based on and really want to immerse yourself in its world a little more, it’s best to give it a wide berth. Though even then, we can’t imagine anyone genuinely having fun with it.
