Doom Eternal on Switch is therefore a port of incredible workmanship that despite obvious compromises, manages to return intact the gaming feeling of one of the most important works of this 2020.

Call of the Sea is an interesting but imperfect experiment, denoted by some (legitimate) error of inexperience. In general, the feeling is that of an adventure written in a pleasant and on average enjoyable way to play, but never get to that status of small gem to discover.

Fire Emblem: Shadow of Dragon & The Blade of Light is a controversial operation. If it is undoubtedly precious and at times pleasant to discover the origins of a franchise that is part of the excellence of turn-based strategy of fantasy matrix, the first chapter carries on its shoulders in a not too solid way the weight of its 30 years, with a game formula so sufficiently varied and stimulating, yet conspicuously aged to the present day.

And it is precisely for this reason that, despite all the technical problems of the production, we cannot in any way fail to assign a vote of excellence to the work of CDPR: the defects will disappear over time, but already now Cyberpunk 2077 is a title which undoubtedly deserves a place of honor in all players' library.

Net of a not exactly impressive content offer, Worms Rumble is a very enjoyable iteration of the series and has not forgotten that strategic component that has always characterized the crazy battles between annelids.

Despite some snags both stylistic and design, Haven still manages to tell a traditional but effective love story relying precisely on those parts that other means of expression usually hide, or leave behind: the myth of Yu and Kay is built in battles with alien and corrupt creatures, but is deconstructed while we see them cooking, going to the bathroom or playing UNO (yes, we're not kidding!).

Ambitious and extremely intelligent in creating a playful and narrative system that is always consistent, Twin Mirror has proved to be a fascinating title. A psychological thriller capable of telling the dark side of the American province by talking first of all about people, and what drives them to act in certain ways.

Being a port of the Switch version, the graphic compromises have remained almost unchanged, but this time the title compensates for its artistic shortcomings with a double frame rate, almost zero loading times and a resolution finally in 4k, which consequently guarantees top-notch performance. If we add to these the presence of the superb Japanese dubbing and all the improvements devised last year for the "S" edition, this third version of Dragon Quest XI may not fully embody the concept of "Definitive Edition", but overall it has turned out to be an excellent alternative to the original, especially in case the consumer wants to use it in 4k. At least for Xbox users and Game Pass subscribers there is no valid reason why they should not finally dive into the world of Erdrea and accompany the Shiner on one of the most epic adventures conceived over the last decade.

And here we come to exodus, the final part of the comedies. Immortals: Fenyx Rising is a game capable of giving much more than a surprise. Despite the obvious limitations imposed by its undoubtedly derivative nature, devoid of great originality and great qualitative ambitions, the final product works and entertains with an excellent balance between density and vastness.

Boasting the contents of the original package, the DLCs that can be purchased on old-gen platforms and a series of new delicacies, among which Vergil stands out and support for the new generation machines, the Special Edition is confirmed as the definitive edition to enjoy in all its splendor and without any kind of compromise of one of the most amazing and adrenaline-pumping hack 'n' slash of recent years.

Tetris Effect finally arrives on Xbox with an even wider and more enjoyable content offer, which makes up for the absence of VR with a new multiplayer sector to discover.

Demon's Souls is in a very strange position: on the one hand, as the launch game of PlayStation 5, it has the task of emphasizing the generational passage as effectively as possible, transmitting a sense of wonder that accompanies the arrival of the new hardware; on the other hand, however, it cannot misrepresent the philosophy and playful approach that From Software had imprinted on the original title.

Sackboy is a party to which everyone is invited: a colorful and fun platformer, rich in content and with a level of difficulty suitable for a very young audience. It suffers from a rhythm that is not always well balanced, and from a dilation of content that does not allow the adventure to maintain a homogeneous quality standard for its entire duration. Without shining for originality, Sumo Digital's work still offers some decidedly remarkable stylistic flicks, with musical levels and a great deal of customization capable of soaring over the rest of the offer. Ultimately, Sackboy is an outspoken and genuine platformer, "tailor-made" for fans of the genre.

Anyone willing to turn a blind eye to some technical and silly edges will play one of those adventures that the Vikings would not hesitate to sing in the Norse courts. Odin's with Ubisoft.

Bugsnax is a fun and light adventure, suitable for a young audience but able to intrigue even the most grown players. It tells a story of friendship and courage, but also of acceptance of diversity and peaceful coexistence. Meanwhile, it leads us to discover the funny Bugsnax, chasing the same curiosity that is typical of monster collectors at Pokémon. The game mechanics are simple and long distance not too diverse (a couple of extra tools and traps would not have hurt), but thanks to an ever-present script and some surprise related to legendary Bugsnax, ten hours on snacktooth island are more than willingly spent. The price is modest, the production commitment well adapted to the team's ambitions. It won't have a particularly bright imagination or impactful graphics, but from the discovery of the Formikebabs to the fight with pizzafalena, Bugsnax always manages to snatch an honest smile.

It would be ungenerous to deny Tomas Sala's work good basic qualities, such as to ensure this peculiar "bird's eye" combat simulator a certain solidity at least on the technical-artistic front. What emerges after a few hours in the skies of the Ursee, however, is that The Falconeer is a product that shines more in aesthetics than in actual ability to involve the player within the wet world he chooses to tell.

Astro's Playroom is a tangible demonstration of dualsense's incredible potential, but also the sublime meeting point between playstation's past and future. It is difficult, if not impossible, to determine at the moment whether the admirable route traced by ASOBI Team in exploiting the features of the new PS5 controller will remain a little beaten path or the high road taken by most. In doubt, it is still worth abandoning yourself to a colorful party that will make you laugh, entertain, excite and gasp. A very first step in the new generation of those not to be underestimated, as well as the perfect showcase of gaming in sensory format that Sony would like us to live on PlayStation 5 (celebrating its origins from A to Z in the meantime).

Like a Dragon is the story of a carp that turns into a dragon, of a gang of scapegoats who decide to defy the established order and come to the head of a desperate situation. Ichiban Kasuga is an individual far from dojima's stoic and serious Dragon but has an equally kind soul and crackling personality, which makes him - along with his strange clique - the symbol of Yakuza's rebirth. A rebirth that passes through a fun and enjoyable but also improveable role-making formula. With this seventh chapter, in other words, the Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has shown us the potential of what would seem to be his idea for the future of the series, which with the advent of next-gen consoles could give us great surprises.

Ultimately, while perfectly able to offer players a good number of hours of fun, Watch Dogs Legion fails to fully realize the potential of its basic concept, yielding to the flattery of an open world model that, at the end of the console generation, loudly requires more innovation.
