8.5 / 10.0 - Planet of Lana
May 26, 2023

Despite the simplicity of some aspects, Planet of Lana features a well-balanced level design between a cinematic and puzzle experience, and a sensitive and reflective adventure about cooperation and harmony with technology and nature. The game is recommended for art game lovers as well as casual players looking for a good adventure experience in a few hours.

8 / 10.0 - LEGO 2K Drive
May 26, 2023

LEGO 2K Drive is something grand and fun with its colorful open world and destructive races. Handling the car may be hard at first but it will soon stop being an issue. The big question really are the microtransactions limiting the way we can enjoy all the content the game has to offer.

Do Not Feed the Monkeys 2099 is a simulator of spying other people's lives, collecting info about them and having the ability to intervene. With a futuristic dystopian setting well explored in all of the game elements, it's an easy recommendation for people curious about the topic of vigilance within the perspective of acting individually as a member of a conspiracy club.

7 / 10.0 - Herodes
May 24, 2023

Herodes manages to be interesting enough to hold the player's attention, even though it's quite short. The idea of navigating through the human body is pretty cool, even more so with a ship, to the point that the slight sins of the game are forgiven. However, it also wouldn't be bad if this idea was expanded into a better-crafted title, especially in the sound part.

CONVERGENCE: League of Legends Story stands out with its dynamism and agile pace. Ekko's journey through Zaun envelops us with its elaborate platforming stretches, exploration moments, and frantic combat. Time manipulation mechanics, like being able to rewind a few seconds of action and a slowdown bubble, bring identity to the game and have some interesting uses. Even with qualities, it lacked a bit of boldness: the elements of temporal alteration are explored in a very basic way, leaving the challenges a bit repetitive. Furthermore, the League of Legends universe is lazily adapted, with a predictable plot and underdeveloped characters. To make up for it, the setting is neat with beautiful visuals and great voice acting. In the end, CONVERGENCE is a competent, fast-paced platformer.

7 / 10.0 - Death or Treat
May 23, 2023

Death or Treat delivers the basics of the roguelike genre well done to a certain extent, but doesn't dare to offer something innovative. However, the experience is positive, especially for players who are not used to the genre. Combat is easy to master, but a little tedious over time. But the title manages to captivate due to its excellent art direction and fluid movement of its protagonist.

9 / 10.0 - Humanity
May 19, 2023

Humanity offers a quality and creative challenge, without inventing too much fashion or complex gimmicks. It is based purely on the insight of those in control and still brings a background that manages to be engaging and consistent with the proposal. The icing on the cake is the endless replay factor with community projects that can be shared freely, making it an almost mandatory game for anyone who likes to spend a good time solving puzzles

8 / 10.0 - The Pale Beyond
May 18, 2023

The Pale Beyond is a unique game, driven by a great survival concept that makes good use of both narrative RPG and simulation elements.

7.5 / 10.0 - Charon's Staircase
May 18, 2023

As the moments of survival or danger are minimal, I believe that Charon's Staircase does not stand out so much within the horror genre. However, for those who like narratives full of mysteries and puzzles, the title delivers a very well-built plot and equally creative puzzles.

Bend the Roo'les is still a nice addition to Kao the Kangaroo, but as I've said before, it keeps stumbling over basic stuff. For those who don't have the game yet, picking up the full package might be a good idea. Other than that, expansion fails to be a good reason to return to Hopalloo Island.

Zool Redimensioned is still an interesting revival, especially since it is one more of Sonic and Mario's competitors that didn't stand out among the two titans. His style and gameplay may be dated, but that doesn't stop the ninja from Dimension N from having his charm.

Desta: The Memories Between uses tactical dodgeball matches to address reflections on complex themes. The clashes are intuitive and varied, being very fun to make complex plays with the ball bouncing through obstacles or opponents. Skills and different allies offer tactical options, and additional modes challenge us with more complex stages. Troublesome relationships, regrets and self-reflection are some of the subjects discussed by the game through great characters and dialogues. Additionally, there's a meditative air to the experience with the use of soft colors and a light, engaging soundtrack. However, as a game, sometimes the simplicity of the mechanics bothers you. Interesting reflections and surreal confrontations await those who decide to delve into the dreams of Desta: The Memories Between. The combination is far from perfect, but engaging nonetheless.

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has content that transcends much of what we've heard about DLC in general. The feeling we have here is that we are playing something totally revitalized and renewed, which manages to hold our attention and create an engagement that only those who have experienced dozens of hours of hunting will know how to take advantage of it. Even so, I do not withdraw the statement that this is content for the few. Deserving to be part of this experience is the first of many rewards that await us in an expansion that uses and abuses the term “massive”. Sunbreak is big, and it's not just about the monsters, it's about the journey before, during, and what awaits us after. This is a must-have add-on package for veteran and experienced hunters alike, and an enticing invitation for novices.

7.5 / 10.0 - ITORAH
May 12, 2023

Despite presenting more of the same shy gameplay, the adventure of the last human immediately draws attention to the art and delivers what it promises. Itorah approaches games like Ori and the Blind Forest and the recent Afterimage, among others, to represent the sublime of painting and show that metroidvanias do not live only with pixel art.

8 / 10.0 - Live A Live
May 11, 2023

Live A Live uses creativity and courage to build an RPG like no other. Instead of a single plot, the game is made up of numerous mini-stories, each with its own ideas and concepts. The variety of themes is one of the highlights, making it difficult not to appreciate at least some of the tales. Furthermore, the battle system is inventive and unique. The retro atmosphere oozes charm with the HD-2D visuals and the excellent soundtrack. The remake of the title released for the SNES in 1994 is technically impeccable, but perhaps too stuck in the past. The stories lack depth, the chapter structure is too basic and the RPG systems could be better worked on. Other than that, combat is unbalanced, sometimes being trivial, sometimes being too difficult. At least the pace is agile, with a modest length compared to other RPGs. Furthermore, Live A Live is worth checking out, mainly for its bold attempt to experiment and try to be different.

Labyrinth of Zangetsu offers a traditional dungeon crawler RPG experience but doesn't go beyond that simple skeleton of a concept. Only its stylized Japanese ambience is a highlight, making it hard to recommend to any person who isn't already fascinated with the genre when compared to better games in the market.

8 / 10.0 - Volcano Princess
May 10, 2023

Volcano Princess is a fascinating example of a single parent simulator. Once started, it's hard not to lose track of time with long gameplays that go on for hours on end as we try to prove our daughter as the best little girl in the kingdom. Despite the stumbles in the translation and with some bugs, the vast sea of possibilities makes the title worthwhile for anyone who wants a captivating and immersive experience.

We live in an age in which streaming platforms already offer interactive productions with high quality. Thus, Mia and the Dragon is a let down from what it could have been. Even though its concept is less dynamic than most [game] genres, the experience offered here of 'controlling a movie' could have been richer and further developed.

Darkest Dungeon II conquers us with its tense and macabre journey. The sequel dares to completely change its style, offering a more focused and lean roguelike structure without leaving aside the atmosphere full of complications. Combat is the most notable point with its countless nuances and interesting possibilities, which result in dense and complex tactical clashes. The pilgrimage is not free of problems: unpredictability and bad luck take away the player's control, creating unpleasant and annoying situations. In addition, there is a lack of a greater variety of events and situations. Luckily, there's plenty of content to explore in the form of characters, challenges, and campaigns, which eases the sense of repetition. Frustration, anguish and heartache await those who decide to explore the dangers of Darkest Dungeon II. The road is dangerous and exhausting, but it's worth crossing.

7 / 10.0 - City of Beats
May 5, 2023

City of Beats uses musical elements to create a different shooting and action adventure. Dodging and shooting to the rhythm of the soundtrack makes battles immersive, and the high challenge and frantic tempo make the experience electrifying. Other than that, the world oozes style with its electronic music and neon colors. However, the small variety of situations and timid use of rhythmic mechanics prevent the game from standing out. All in all, City of Beats is a passable but unmemorable roguelike.
