So is The Callisto Protocol ultimately the new Dead Space? In the sense that it brings many of Dead Space’s signature elements into the cutting-edge technical world of today’s video games, certainly yes. However, anyone expecting this new title to deliver groundbreaking design innovations, a fresh gaming experience, and the ability to evoke genuine fear will inevitably be disappointed.

8 / 10.0 - Biomutant
Dec 31, 2022

I’ve been eagerly awaiting Biomutant for a long time, and I have to admit I’m pretty satisfied. Once you work your way through the tutorial to the point where the game finally lets you roam freely around the map, you’ll just be enjoying the stunning graphics, fantastic kung fu combat, and the perfectly matched soundtrack. The map is vast, yet it never feels empty, as there’s always something happening around every corner. That said, the game does have a few flaws, such as overwhelming the player with unnecessary mechanics, simplistic puzzles, slightly repetitive side activities, and, most notably, the way the story is presented. Try playing the game yourself and form your own opinion, because that’s more important here than ever before.

EDENGATE: The Edge of Life is a classic example of a game where, by the time the credits roll, you’re no wiser than you were at the very beginning. The story is disjointed, leaves out crucial details, and relies too heavily on players figuring things out on their own. For a game that lasts about two hours, there are plenty of frustrating moments that overshadow the good parts. If you’re looking for something that doesn’t require you to think or put in much effort—where all you have to do is follow the path laid out for you—you’ve hit the jackpot. Don’t expect anything more from this game. Although it won’t satisfy more demanding gamers by a long shot, EDENGATE: The Edge of Life has a certain charm that can’t be denied.

8 / 10.0 - Project Winter
Dec 30, 2022

The combination of simple, colorful graphics, a captivating soundtrack, and a clear objective—reaching the helicopter—makes the game feel almost unnaturally smooth. Some might say that Project Winter can’t be a bad game, but unfortunately, the occasional hostility among players is something not everyone can get behind. However, if you have a group of friends and want to play with them, this is the perfect game, because you can troll each other and help one another for hours on end.

Need for Speed Unbound pleasantly surprised me in many ways, and it’s definitely the first step toward the series eventually returning to the golden age of Underground or Carbon. Aside from a few things, everything in the game really works, and after many years of fruitless efforts, this is definitely a glimmer of hope that the series will return to where it belongs. Believe it or not, but in my opinion, Need for Speed has yet to show its best. On behalf of us at Gaming Professors, I’m giving Unbound seven and a half out of ten.

8 / 10.0 - Pentiment
Dec 27, 2022

Pentiment is a delightful RPG adventure with stunning visuals, though it occasionally suffers from being a bit too chatty and sometimes struggles to strike the right balance in how much control to give the player. At its core, however, it is a rather exceptional title that will undoubtedly appeal to many players, provided they don’t mind doing a bit of reading while playing and aren’t put off by a bit of “meticulous” work. The game features plenty of interesting characters who will guide you nicely through the story, and the clever time mechanics keep the tension high from start to finish.

6 / 10.0 - Idol Manager
Dec 26, 2022

Idol Manager is a relaxing game that will keep you entertained for hours on end, though its repetitive nature can become tedious over time. Fortunately, there are various mods available to spice up your gameplay. For example, you can create a star-studded cast made up entirely of porn stars or add Rem from the anime Re:Zero.

7 / 10.0 - Goat Simulator 3
Dec 23, 2022

Goat Simulator 3 is a solid sandbox game that you can enjoy with friends, but if you decide to play alone, the limited options can quickly get boring. Even the lack of object physics, which might be fun for a while, can start to get on your nerves after a while. On the other hand, Goat Simulator 3 offers plenty of fun through secret locations and objects to explore, drawing from both the world of film and gaming.

7.5 / 10.0 - 60 Parsecs!
Dec 23, 2022

Although 60 Parsecs! isn’t exactly an original game, it builds on the core gameplay of its predecessor with more polished graphics, another dose of wacky humor, and a wider range of options. As a survival game with lower difficulty but a greater variety of story branches, it offers many hours of fun as you explore all the possible endings. It might just start to feel a bit repetitive later on, though…

7.5 / 10.0 - Gunfire Reborn
Dec 22, 2022

The overall impression of Gunfire Reborn is very positive. The developers have really gone all out here, giving you a unique opportunity to build a hero with various combinations of abilities and weapons. All you have to do is find the one that suits you best and head into the arena. The game can sometimes be very frustrating if luck doesn’t favor the right choice of abilities and weapons. This can lead to your early demise and problems with leveling up your overall level, resulting in a more difficult game.

Despite these obstacles, however, Warhammer is actually a pleasantly light game that rewards players with a sense of relaxation rather than the thrill of overcoming a difficult challenge. On medium difficulty, not even the bosses pose a significant obstacle to successfully completing the game, as their attack patterns are easy to figure out and adapt to. After completing the main story, which supports both local and online co-op, players can still have fun battling friends in multiplayer arenas.

Just Dance 2023 is perfect for a wild party with people who don’t mind making fools of themselves in front of each other. All the gameplay mechanics remain the same as in previous editions, but there are many online and graphical improvements.

Charterstone: Digital Edition is a well-executed adaptation of a classic, high-quality board game, though it lacks any real innovation. The developers aimed to create a nearly 1:1 digital version, and it’s worth noting that they succeeded in most cases. Saving games, in particular, is a nice feature. The advantage is that you don’t have to carry that heavy box around with you—everything is right there on your device. Unfortunately, it can’t replace real human interaction, but it’s still a solid game that will keep you entertained for hours.

8 / 10.0 - Sonic Frontiers
Dec 22, 2022

Sonic Frontiers is certainly not a perfect game, but thanks to its boldness in venturing into uncharted territory, it can definitely be counted among the best in the entire series. The open world has a few flaws, but even so, you’ll enjoy exploring, uncovering the story’s various pieces, and deepening the relationships between the characters. Sonic has managed to take a step in the right direction.

Gerda: A Flame in Winter presents the story of desperate human fates during World War II in a compelling, superbly crafted, and above all, educational way. The game creates a diverse playing field and puts the reins in the players’ hands, allowing them to be the ones who firmly control the situation. Let us learn from the mistakes of our dark past and not repeat them again.

Maybe I’m just picking up on the moaning and the erotic undertones, but Gal*Gun Double Peace! has nothing else to offer. The story is fine, but it’s just a run-of-the-mill anime cliché. The characters are whiny and, at times, downright annoying. Unfortunately, the gameplay is far too simple and repetitive, but at least the aiming on the Nintendo works great and there are no issues with it. The graphics are well-done—you can even see things you don’t want to see. You just have to be the game’s target audience; otherwise, I don’t know who it could possibly appeal to.

The Eternal Cylinder is an incredible game that’s definitely worth playing. It stands out primarily for its visuals, but also for its gameplay. The only downside is poor optimization, which can be frustrating at times. We’ve grown fond of the little Trebhums, as well as the story of their entire family. This game is definitely worth checking out and has incredible potential.

8.5 / 10.0 - WRC Generations
Dec 14, 2022

WRC Generations is more of an evolution of the previous WRC 10, but in every respect, it represents the best that KT Racing and Nacon have been able to create over the years. If you’re a fan but already own one of the older titles, you should definitely invest the full price in WRC Generations. For owners of WRC 10, I recommend waiting for a small discount, but I can still recommend WRC Generations to them as KT Racing’s new flagship title. On behalf of us at Gaming Professors, I’m giving the game eight and a half out of ten points.

The Darkest Tales is full of great ideas, but the game is let down by numerous critical flaws that leave players feeling frustrated rather than excited. Although the developers are working hard to fix the game, it still isn’t in a state where I could recommend it to you with a clear conscience. This conclusion saddens me all the more because The Darkest Tales could be such a good game—if only everything worked as it should.

The best game of all time? Probably. It’s massive, high-quality, well-organized, and features a fantastic soundtrack and expansions that build on an already excellent story. I also have to highlight the mini-games, such as Gwent and horseback riding, as well as the side quests, which are well-crafted and make sense. There’s practically nothing to fault in The Witcher 3: Game of the Year Edition (The Witcher 3: GOTY Edition). All the issues the original game, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, had have been resolved with the expansions—except for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. Today, it’s one great masterpiece in which finding flaws is as hard as finding Ciri. I’m truly glad the game has Czech localization at least in the subtitles, because without them, fans would miss out on a lot. And although it really seems like I’m idolizing The Witcher too much, the opposite is true—try playing it, and you’ll understand for yourself.
