3 / 10.0 - Prehistoric Dude
Oct 21, 2020

Prehistoric Dude is a short and uninteresting adventure, where much of your time is spent walking over bushes trying to see enemies. Jumping through obstacles, the limited combat and te repetitive exploration are never intriguing or rewarding. The visuals and the soundtrack also do not deliver any particular positive points. The title is not horrible in itself, but it definitely fails to be interesting in almost 100% of its aspects.

3 / 10.0 - Radio Squid
Jul 24, 2020

In general, in addition to being somewhat boring and repetitive, Radio Squid is simply not a fun game. Having to deal with your own shots all the time coming straight to your face in every single, tight room is exhausting - you can't even stand and think for a second without being punished by the game. As small positive points, the soundtrack is pretty cool and the Game Boy style look certainly appeals; however, these aspects are far from rescuing an experience as unpleasant as that of this game.

3.5 / 10.0 - Dungeon Munchies
Jan 1, 2022

Dungeon Munchies looks like a demo of itself or at least a hollow shell of a project that stopped trying before it started. Not all unique indies hit the mark at first but this title seems to get almost everything wrong. There are many similar games on the Nintendo Switch that are much more fun and interesting. Stay away and move on.

4 / 10.0 - WarriOrb
Dec 13, 2020

Warriorb sins at the point that I consider most central in a video game, entertainment. The game is not only not fun, but also not pleasant to look at, hear or play. The feeling of spending my time in this world was like buying a game just for the cover, just to regret it bitterly after 10 minutes. Even so, amid the mistakes, stumbles and bumps of this unpleasant environment, something still remains in the memory. I believe the idea of a challenging platform game focused on more "realistic" ball physics is quite interesting, but the title has failed to make it work.

Sword of the Necromancer certainly had potential, however, in the state the game is in, it is difficult to recommend it. Looks like the game is in its early stages of development, as it seems to be incomplete and without knowing very well its reason for existing. Aside from the story and the main idea of summoning defeated monsters, very little of the game is worthy, which is a shame.

4.5 / 10.0 - Space Crew
Jan 3, 2021

Space Crew is a strategy indie with a simple and adorable appearance, but with complex and well-built mechanics. The problem is that the title is lost in the presentation of its ideas and ends up delivering a repetitive experience without much space for experimentation. Space Crew could have been much more, but it ends up looking incomplete.

5 / 10.0 - Rune Factory 5
Mar 22, 2022

Rune Factory 5 manages to deliver a lot of content, offering a barrage of classic elements, but delivering them along with a collection of mistakes and oversights. Performance issues, structural game design flaws and lack of politeness end up ruining the potential of this long-awaited continuation of the classic franchise.

Even though it's one of those cheaper eShop titles that, like many others, could simply be overlooked, 'Missing Features: 2D' manages to stand out. With an interesting idea and good pace that keeps the player's attention. There are a considerable amount of problems, though — but if you're curious enough about the premise, it's worth giving it a try for yourself.

5.5 / 10.0 - SkateBIRD
Sep 16, 2021

Skatebird takes a great premise and even manages to package the idea into a visually pleasing package. The problem, however, is that the final execution, like a poorly calculated maneuver on a skateboard, misses the goal. Controls and movement should be the main pillars of gameplay in a skateboarding game, but the title fails precisely in these aspects, making the experience difficult and tedious. Skateboarders and bird lovers alike probably have better alternatives on the Nintendo Switch.

6 / 10.0 - Born of Bread
Dec 16, 2023

Born of Bread appears as yet another Paper Mario clone that fails to achieve the balance that the original game has to offer. A series of inconsistencies, from the visuals to several basic game design and world-building choices, hinder the player's final experience. The offer of good RPGs on the Switch is too large for you to waste time on titles like this, unless unless you really miss something in the Paper Mario style and have already played the originals thousands of times.

6 / 10.0 - Bugsnax
May 4, 2022

Bugsnax is no doubt a unique, charming game. Some people will definitely feel enchanted by the little creatures, who repeat their own names nonstop Pokémon-style, will be able to ignore a good portion of the repetition, unnecessary bureaucracy and technical issues. However, it's easier to bet on most people liking the good premise for a couple of hours before parting for a more interesting title on Switch.

6 / 10.0 - Imp Of The Sun
Apr 6, 2022

Imp of the Sun is an average adventure with some good ideas and some bad executions, which unfortunately puts the title alongside a number of other less memorable indies on Switch. Although the visual part and the soundtrack manage to please most of the time, problems with the polish of the title's gameplay end up ruining much of its potential. As a metroidvania, the game also fails to present a creative and truly interactive setting in conjunction with the character's abilities. The tribute to Peruvian culture is quite valid, but Imp of the Sun doesn't really know how to take advantage of its premise.

It's hard to recommend River City Girls Zero to anyone who enjoyed the 2019 game, as the prequel has very little in common with the more dynamic, modern formula of its sequel. It would have been great to see Shin Nekketsu Kōha: Kunio-tachi no Banka remade in the River City Girls engine and offered alongside the original game in a revamped version with everything that is entitled, but the truth is that we will have to wait for River City Girls 2 to relive an experience similar to the first game. As it stands, the re-release is a good choice only for enthusiasts of old games, re-releases and assiduous fans of the franchise.

DC Super Hero Girls: Teen Power is, above all, a by-product of the cartoon that bears the same name. If you or your child are super fans of the original material, it's not hard to really appreciate what's been done here. If that's not the case, there's no good reason for you to go out of your way and play the game, but playing it wouldn't be that bad either. Although the story is simple and the combat a bit truncated, the city's open-world exploration and the amount of additional content surprise and entertain enough. In general, the title ends midway, however, for a licensed game without many expectations, the result tends to be positive.

Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town has potential, some good ideas and a certain unfulfilled ambition hidden behind some layers of performance problems and strange game design choices. The game is fun enough as a farm simulator and will likely please fans enough, but certain issues are glaring and hinder the fun. Story of Seasons became more daring, but at the same time it forgot some basic elements. If you are very curious, at least wait for the updates, which will certainly improve the experience as a whole.

6 / 10.0 - Star Renegades
Nov 28, 2020

I tried very hard to enjoy my time with Star Renegades on the Nintendo Switch, but the game itself kept me from moving forward steadily. It is a pity that such a different and well thought out title, with excellent dialogues, a deep and layered combat, great art and soundtrack is such a bad experience on our beloved hybrid console.

6 / 10.0 - Going Under
Oct 10, 2020

Going Under deviates a little from the path of an ideal roguelike. Instead of enjoying the wonderful visuals, the great soundtrack and the fun premise to make a captivating, agile and action-packed game, the title loses a little focus on what really matters. It is possible to spend some good hours of fun with the game, but the technical problems in the combat, the little variety inside the dungeons (and outside them), the lack of information in some moments, and the excess of exposure in others, made that I never fully get caught up in the adventure.

6 / 10.0 - West of Dead
Sep 10, 2020

West of Dead has a great premise and manages to deliver a fun combat that certainly has its layers. As any good roguelike, you must master the mechanics of the game and go through a good number of runs before you can expect any success. However, there is a feeling of lack of polish thanks to some poor game design choices that prevents the experience from being truly memorable.

The unquestionable fact here is that the first DLC in Pokémon history could have been something much more grand, or at least memorable. It is possible to have fun, enjoy a few quick moments and you can certainly kill some time. Pokémon fans will feel compelled to buy the expansion, and if they want to extend the Sword / Shield experience, there really is no other option. It is a pity, however, that we fans always have to be content with so little on the part of Game Freak.

In a way, this weirdly licensed SpongeBob game is a decent piece of video game history and I think it's worth taking a chance if you like the genre. Some interesting new features also come up, like support for menus and subtitles in Brazilian Portuguese, and a very simple multiplayer mode in which you and a friend attack waves of enemies in sequence. Battle for Bikini Bottom has never been a perfect game - and it certainly is not yet the case - but it, at the very least, continues with its unique charm and outstanding gameplay.
