In a time where young people find themselves trapped in the familial home for much longer than their forebears through no fault of their own, Zagreus’ hellish plight is unexpectedly resonant. The very real struggle to simply strike out on one’s own and escape the shadow you were born under is eerily reflected in the roguelike structure of Hades. Repeated failure is crushing… until you figure out how to learn from it. Until you move forward, inch by inch. Until you win.

A multifaceted story that unfolds based on how you play, sublime combat that rewards experimentation, challenges that are only as difficult as you want them to be, all the good feelings of roguelikes without a lot of the hassle.

After launching the official version, "Hades" can not only attract a large number of players with a very charming and in-depth combat system, but also a rich story that can stand out among many Roguelike games.

EXCELLENT - Hades revolutionizes storytelling by unraveling new dialog and exposition each time you die, making every single attempt at escaping the Underworld new and exciting. The replayability is extremely high here with randomized rooms and perks, and a gameplay loop that will have you saying, “Just one more time!” well past your bedtime. Don’t let the roguelike description scare you away from giving this one a try.

Hades takes the hated cycle of retrying the same checkpoint over and over again, flips it on its head with rewarding progression, and makes the player genuinely look forward to starting anew. Gods, it’s impressive!

Indie developer Supergiant have made a name for themselves by developing a series of titles diverse in genre but consistent in their striking art design, mechanical depth and distinctive utilisation of voice acting. Although their first rogue-like, Hades makes for a strong argument that this genre is Supergiant's snuggest fit yet.

Hades is a different experience in the roguelike genre. It blends together a narrative with the mechanics and gameplay of roguelike, dungeon crawling games. With the option to play with different abilities and truly craft your own playstyle, replayability is extremely high. And while death is going to be the norm in this game, you’ll be able to activate God Mode, making this game an enjoyable experience for everyone.

Hades is a game for almost everyone. The only people I could see not getting struck by Aphrodite are those who can’t stand procedural generation or action games at all. If you’ve got even a cursory interest in roguelikes or action RPGs, you absolutely cannot pass this game up. Its only real shortcoming is the less-than-stellar story, which is a first for Supergiant Games. Rest assured, the gameplay, characters, secrets, and customization more than make up for a lack of a gripping narrative.

I don’t even really like the combat that much relative to some other games. But because of all the synergies, because of the loop-driven storytelling, and because of the overwhelming quality of the music, visuals, acting, and more I’m still working my way to the true ending. At the end of the day I just want to know everything all these characters have to say.

Hades is a game that teaches the player and the industry that it is still possible to innovate in any genre, in this case it does so in today's saturated market for games with roguelike mechanics. In perfect communion between gameplay and narrative, Hades will keep us hooked for hours and hours on his goodness without remission, and after the hours that I myself have been absorbed, despite the fact that it surely has some defect, I can only describe it as a masterpiece .

Supergiant Games has reached a new pinnacle of its craft with Hades, and I can now count the number of rogue-like games I enjoy on one finger. Even pushing to get through it for this review, I never felt bored or frustrated. The game doesn't have a single real flaw. It's not the perfect game for every single gamer, but if you enjoy an experience that rewards skill and has an amazing story, spot-on voice acting, beautiful music, and - I can't emphasize this enough - the ability to pet Cerberus, Hound of the Underworld, as many times as you want, then it's definitely the game for you.

I’m not sure if Hades is my absolute favorite Supergiant Games release. Transistor remains criminally underrated. Hades, however, is the one I’ve spent the most time playing and thinking about. It’s the rare roguelite that convinces me of the genre’s merits. Hades masterfully nails its minute-to-minute mechanics alongside the larger character and story progression. I didn’t want to love Hades, but still loved it. I love looking at, fighting in, and absorbing more of this underworld that never stops. So, if you come in with an even slightly more open mind, chances are you’ll love it even more.

Hades is a brutal but highly entertaining trip through the Greek underworld. Although I got knocked down again and again much like the stubborn prince himself I couldn’t help but get back up and try just one more time. With so much content on offer, this will easily be a game I’ll have in regular rotation for a long time to come. Definitely a title worthy of the Gods!

It is no exaggeration to say that Hades is one of the best titles of 2020 and the best Supergiant Games ever made. The huge achievement that this game has achieved in the field of storytelling and its combination with exciting gameplay is really commendable and it is also a pleasant experience in terms of audio and video. Whether you are a fan of Rogue-lite games or not, you should not miss the Hades experience.
