Critic Reviews for Golf Zero

Golf Zero is a nice mix between hardcore platformer and golf, sprinkled with a humorous touch all along its 80 levels. Still kind of short, the game manages to constantly deliver new challenges and reasons to laugh, die, and try again.

Golf Zero has an unexpected twist on familiar gameplay, but the execution isn't in a manner that I found enjoyable. This physics platformer is a bogey on the Switch. Try the mobile version (with touch support) instead.

Mixing the hardcore platforming genre with golf, Golf Zero comes out with a point above par. Fast and diverse, the game stands out thanks to a good dose of challenge, precise gameplay and humor, since sacrificing your golfer to find the perfect curve is one of the practices necessary to progress in the game. But judging by the cover, many players will fail to enjoy a great game of the genre, as there are sure to be good hours of fun and challenge to complete all stages with the gold medal.

Golf Zero is a pretty fun and creative physics platformer, with a good amount of challenge and fun levels to play through! But the experience overall is rather short, and outside of doing all the gold medal or speedrun challenges, the game just doesn’t evolve into a replayable experience.

Golf Zero is a fairly decent change-up on the whole platformer genre providing a really hardcore challenge at times and a unique gameplay experience.

There was a point in my life I would gobble up all these small Ratalaika games; they usually have easy platinums you could complete in under an hour with very little effort whatsoever. They are of variable quality, usually very simple and mostly bought by budding trophy hunters. I do not buy them anymore but thought I would jump on this review because it included the word ‘golf’. I like golf, in video game form anyway.

Golf Zero was a nice little surprise. Brutal hard platforming with an enjoyable golf twist that was great fun to enjoy in short gaming bursts. If you’re not a fan of platformers the golf is probably not enough to win you over. A few niggles with the controls hold it back from true greatness but if the developers decide to make a follow-up I would be up for another round of golf with them.

Golf Zero is a game of pure trial and error, with a high difficulty that will delight those who love challenges. We are facing a long and lasting game where we will have to try our best if we want to get everything. Its handling is not as precise as we would like and it can become repetitive after a few games, but within its characteristics it is worth it.
