While I loved every second of replaying Mass Effect for the fourth and definitely not final time, I have that history and nostalgia keeping me through the outdated gameplay. I would recommend anyone jump into this series if they love BioWare RPGs, but I’d have a string of caveats. A lot has not aged well, especially from the first game, even though the first game arguably has the best story of all three. The Mass Effect Legendary Edition is an absolutely incredible walk down memory lane, but that’s really all it is.

Other than the noted changes, Mass Effect is exactly how I remember it, great story beats, incredible voice acting, fun and engaging combat scenarios, and characters that you just want to hang out with. The Mass Effect: Legendary Edition is absolutely fantastic and overall an absurd amount of content for one bundle to contain. All three games have aged well, save for a few cringy lines of dialogue and player decisions. For new players, this is the way to experience ME. For old ME Vets, it’s an incredible look back. If there were one thing I would have liked to have seen included in this collection, it would have been some history extras. Behind the scenes, a documentary, VO outtakes, etc… Something, anything, Bioware would have had leftover to give us fans a little treat to celebrate the Mass Effect legacy. The Legendary Edition is worth every penny they ask for and you can’t go wrong with this purchase.

Honestly, I’m so appreciative that Bioware re-released this trilogy. It’s a landmark piece of gaming history. It makes me appreciate not just the franchise itself, but the ways the game industry’s grown as well. It’s great thinking about developers and indie titles inspired by Mass Effect. The same goes for the modern AAA games that matured in its wake. It may not be perfect, but neither are any of us. It’s a product of its time trying to make the space better, and it did quite the job.

Even with its flaws, the Mass Effect trilogy is still a grand adventure. It features some of the best world-building and character development in gaming culture, and the story is so intriguing that the missteps at the end are easily overshadowed by the previous story beats.

Playing this new, remastered version of Mass Effect brought back so many memories and feelings from a by-gone era, and the fact that people half my age can now experience this epic at the same age I originally did? That’s a very special feeling.

The Mass Effect Legendary Edition is very well designed to help you feel the excellence of the original on modern PCs. That's why it doesn't disappoint you throughout the game, but it's just a remaster that can't feel any greater than the original.

These three games are a generation-defining series that have shaped many players’ lives, that I actually envy some people who are able to experience this for the first time. To some, this may even be the best trilogy of games ever created, with Mass Effect 2 possibly being up there in the “greatest of all time” conversation. This shared experience causes many of them to bond over their distinct adventures, cry over lost squadmates, and share their common frustration with driving the Mako or the divisive conclusion. Either way, it was a fantastic journey, and while not all of our collective emotions could be bottled up and re-lived, it feels so nice to be back in the shoes of Commander Shepard once again.

Through the passage of time, archaic systems and sometimes simplistic design, the Mass Effect Legendary Edition passes unscathed and brings back to the modern era everything that makes it special, showing in the best way that it is now one of the classic moments in history of the industry, able to offer us after thirteen years a journey that is completely unique.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition offers a substantial upgrade over the original trilogy, even though the gameplay is still a bit outdated to today's standards. The trilogy still has a brilliant story and the deep RPG experience that Bioware became famous for. With around 100 hours of content, ridiculous replay value, and a cast of unforgettable characters Mass Effect Legendary Edition is a must-play for every fan of science-fiction and RPGs.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition might just offer a new look at some older games, but it still stands tall as one of the best and most memorable RPG series around.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition is an extremely rich package (except for a small DLC pack and the multiplayer component of Mass Effect 3). Ignoring a few technical flaws, it successfully brings back one of the best gaming trilogies of all time, with many welcome technical and gameplay additions.

Remasters are a dime a dozen nowadays, and more often than not, I find that most of them aren't done very well. Simply bringing a game forward and upgrading the resolution to 4K for any title often isn't enough to impress me. Fortunately, Mass Effect Legendary Edition does not fall into this category. BioWare has done quite a bit here to make this beloved series more accessible than it has been in quite some time, especially when it comes to the visuals. Whether you're looking to play through the trilogy for your tenth time or you're finally looking to give the series a shot for the first time, Mass Effect Legendary Edition is absolutely the way in which you should experience all three games moving forward.

The craft and care of the Legendary Edition, from Mass Effect 1’s upgraded combat to Mass Effect 2’s new Pluto, honors its legacy for the dedicated fanbase. Barring minimal Mako fixes, every improvement is meaningful, making the Legendary Edition the foremost platform for a Mass Effect playthrough. I

And so to the finale. If you're new to the trilogy then just ignore the naysayers and enjoy the ride. Long since Mass Effect 3 sent fans into a rage they've had Game of Thrones and The Rise of Skywalker to focus their ire, but this game's ending deserves no such hostility. The failure of 2017's Mass Effect: Andromeda thwarted Bioware's plans to expand the universe (exploring a different galaxy) but a sequel to the original trilogy was announced in December. In the meantime, this is audacious, epic storytelling filled with wonderful characters and spectacular locations, the likes of which we've not seen since and we're unlikely to see for some time.
