Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series Reviews
Although it originally launched during an era when we were flooded with 3D character platformers, Klonoa does feel unique enough to stand up against many of the household names we think of when thinking about the genre, it just seems it didn’t catch on enough at the time to grow as big as Crash, Spyro or Ratchet & Clank for example. Hopefully with the release of this collection it can continue to resonate with existing fans, find some new ones and who knows it could eventually spawn a brand new entry, reviving the series with the first original new game in over 20 years. If you’re a fan of character based platformers, I’d recommend checking out the Klonoa: Phantasy Reverie Series on your platform of choice.
The Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series has taken two classic games that deserve to be experienced and given them new life, and I’m honestly really glad that so many people will be able to see the magic that I’ve seen from the series. These are solid, polished platforming titles that feel great to play, look lovely to the eye, sound beautiful and are presented properly, with only the occasional frame drops and some annoying collectables bringing them down. If you enjoy platformers at all, be it Mario, Kirby, Spyro, Sonic or otherwise, do yourself a favour and get this compilation – Klonoa deserves to stand alongside them all as one of the greats.
The games are real Remasters: virtually nothing has changed in the gameplay or levels, but everything has been given a fresh new look that makes it look modern again. The additions in especially the infinite restart at a save point are particularly pleasant additions that can avoid many possible frustrations. Klonoa deserves a second chance and fortunately a new audience can now still get acquainted with this unique gameplay.

Overall, the Klonoa Phantasy Reverie series is an excellent remaster of two fantastic games that manage to subvert your expectations. Both games are awesome platformers that have a lot of ambition in their level design attached to them. The only real detriment is that both games are very short in length, clocking in at around 3-4 hours each for the initial completion.
Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is a brilliant little package for fans and newcomers alike. That said, the latter may have to wade through some of the more basic stuff before they hit on why Klonoa has such a cult following. The graphics and funky physics paint a deceptive picture that the game is "budget" or "cheap", but it's simply a faithful remastering of two titles that are still very much rooted in the late 90s to early 00s. The same titles that have so much heart it would make the Kingdom Hearts crew green with envy. The lack of extras outside of the DLC and the omission of the GBA titles does mean that the title slightly misses the mark, and it isn't the most original title around nowadays, but the cheap price point and overall charm win the day in the end.
Does Klonoa’s age show? Yes. Do these games still have a lot of charm after twenty years? Also yes. If you enjoy retro platformers, you really have no excuse for not playing Klonoa: Phantasy Reverie Series.
It took a while, but it's here. Klonoa makes its triumphant return in a must-have pack not only for fans of the saga but also for fans of the genre. Exciting and clinical in technicality, platforming doesn't get any purer than this.

A good set of remastered video games that give new generations the opportunity to meet long forgotten mascots and icons, thus giving new life to franchises we thought were dead. However, I don't feel that either of the two games in this Phantasy Reverie Series bring anything truly memorable and they remain, unfortunately, two entertaining and enjoyable adventures without more.

When something beloved has been lost for so long, it's hard to not cling to any and every bit you can get in fear that it will be torn away from you yet again. Ultimately I'm just thankful for the chance that we have now to wipe the decades-old dust from these hidden gems. Maybe, if only for a moment, not so hidden anymore.

After more than a decade without games, Klonoa is back in good shape. The new collection isn't a perfect package, but both titles offer a lot of fun. Even after 25 years, its fairytale-like story and easy control using only three moves and two buttons are still enjoyable. The level of difficulty of this game is enough for the beginners, also the story can appeal to anyone. However, the game is a bit too easy for core gamers and the volume is insufficient to reveal all the mysteries behind the stories.

Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is an excellent remaster that more or less, manages to honor its source material.
Make no mistake, Klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series is the best way to currently play these two platforming classics and Namco has done a decent job of presenting these titles in the best possible light. With around 25 hours of dreamy, retro-styled platforming contained in this package, Klonoa veterans and younger platforming fans will find lots to love in the whimsical worlds and puzzle-platforming level design on offer here. Some performance issues aside, it's tough not to fall in love with this duology. Catch it when you can.
For the 25th anniversary of the Klonoa series, we received two superbly refreshed installments of it as klonoa Phantasy Reverie Series. What to say here, really successful remasters at a high level and every fan of platformers should be interested regardless of whether he once played them or not.

In summary, if you've never tried the series and always wanted to do it, you should definitely take the step forward and purchase one of the different versions of current consoles or PC. Klonoa is not a franchise that stands out for being a revolution, but the joy comes from taking the control and live an adventure full of fantasy.
