At its core, Rollerdrome threatens high-speed, adrenaline-pumping gameplay as you chase combos and high scores with fluid movement and tricking mechanics. It has a deceptively high amount of content hidden inside, with each of the four stages potentially taking a few hours to clear - multiple playthroughs of each level are definitely required.

If you ever loved Tony Hawks, Jet Set Radio, Max Payne or any/all of the above, you should definitely look into Rollerdrome. It’s a smart, well-designed, polished genre hybrid that genuinely does something a bit different while still giving you a game you’ll enjoy and be familiar with.

Rollerdrome is a marvel both in terms of design and gameplay, but its narrative aspect is forced to tell nothing, so its ending ends up being a bit bit bitter. Still, it's worth every second of its gameplay.

Despite a misguided challenge system, Rollerdrome innovates with plenty of guns, grinds, grabs, and even strategy.

Performance-wise, the game runs smoothly on PS5. The graphics are crisp, and I didn't encounter gameplay issues or frame rate dips. Overall, Rollerdrome is a well-rounded, incredibly fun, and immensely challenging but rewarding game. While the gameplay relies on being grindy and some of the narrative elements fall short, it still offers a highly enjoyable experience, especially for fans of action games.

In a year full of releases of immense quality, Rollerdrome exceeds expectations and brings an immensely creative and original experience that blends the action and sports genres as few have done before. So we have a game that, although small, brings with it a superb art style and difficult, yet fun and rewarding gameplay.

Once you get into that Rollerdrome zen state it's hard to pull yourself away. Easily one of the best indie games of the year and a must-play for PlayStation and PC fans alike.

A triumph in melding style with substance, a blistering experience once you get in the flow, but that requires skill and persistence that might be beyond some players.

Unfortunately, the package ends up feeling a bit bare. The story is window dressing, and the gameplay is lacking in variety. The lack of multiplayer also feels like a missed opportunity. Without it, there’s not much replayability other than an online leaderboard.

Rollerdrome is the love child of chaos and style, fast-paced action with a bright and vibrant comic book art style that never felt so good. Depending on how fast you adapt to the madness, you could be in the endgame building montage-worthy gameplay and competing for ultimate bragging rights within the first day. If you wanted to take it a bit slower, the list of challenges to revisit and the assist menu let you tackle the game at your own pace. Either way, Rollerdrome is an incredibly exciting experience and a fine addition to the PlayStation library.

All in all, Rollerdrome absolutely nailed it in terms of gameplay but it came at the cost of other aspects such as the story. The two-tier system of guns and tricks is so well done that I constantly find myself trying to outdo my previous score because I know I can do better. Unfortunately, the game failed to tie the overarching story and gameplay together in any meaningful way. If it’s stylish action you’re looking for, Rollerdrome’s got that covered for a while. It’s just a shame that doesn’t offer much else.

I really appreciate how you can tweak the settings so the game is as hard or as easy as you would like but either way, you cut it, the game is awesome and a must-play!

Rollerdrome is the proof that two genres that seem distant from each other can go hand in hand and give a high quality game. We have a game with a frantic gameplay that seems simple, but is difficult and a short story, but interesting.

Rollerdrome combines the skate game feeling of satisfaction from landing the perfect trick, with the pulse-pounding adrenaline of fighting for your very life. Between the story that you must find for yourself and the varied arenas that throw new ways to move and do tricks, there’s never a dull moment to be found. Rollerdrome is by no means a long game, but it is one that is just so easy to pick up and play.

Rollerdrome mixes rollerblading with 3rd person shooting in a unique art style, making it quite enjoyable. But the repetitive gameplay and high level of difficulty are somewhat disappointing.
