FIFA 23 feels like an update rather than an upgrade. There are many innovations, but few features that really make an impression. However, the game will sell like hot cakes again this year, as EA Sports remains unparalleled in the field of football games. FIFA 23 remains the best football game out there, despite EA Sports being unable to offer its players much innovation this year.

The simple question: for owners of FIFA 22 on next-gen consoles, is it worth purchasing FIFA 23? The answer is a definitive 'yes.' While not a perfect upgrade, it's a noticeable one that takes many big steps in the right direction. Plus, if you're even a mild fan of women's football and/or Ted Lasso, this decision is a whole lot easier, in tandem.

All in all, then, while not a revolution, EA hasn’t rested on its laurels when it comes to FIFA 23. From meaningful tweaks and additions to modes, to a noticeably improved on-pitch experience, it’s simply bigger and better than its predecessors in every single way. And so the FIFA series, at least with EA at the helm, is going out with a bang rather than a whimper. But if EA Sports FC is to truly impress, it’s going to have to deliver something fresh.

FIFA 23 shows that EA still knows how to make a good football game that should please the fans. It may not be a perfect goodbye to the series - gameplay has its issues and the game’s strong “TikTok vibe” can worry a bit, but there’s no denying that it definitely is a good game.

FIFA 23 brings some great gameplay changes, but the sins of its predecessors still drag the game down.

FIFA 23 is a fitting yet welcome end to the series. It has been a wild ride with equal parts of ups and downs. Despite all the criticism levied against them, we cannot avoid the fact that the FIFA series has played a pivotal role in not just bringing sports games to a new level, but also the growth of esports in general. But we won't sugarcoat all the downsides over the years with goodwill and fond memories.

FIFA 23 is a step up for the FIFA series as far as gameplay and in-game elements go, and the tweaks to gameplay and addition of new modes does help the game overall. However, microtransactions remain one of the biggest stains in this series, and oftentimes outshine even the good.

The tweaks to FIFA 23's gameplay make for a more deliberate, physical representation of the beautiful game – and while it won't be to the taste of sweats who are used to five-star skilling their way up the ranks in Division Rivals, personally we appreciate the commitment to authenticity. As an overall package, this is a strong end to an impressive 30-year run, but an overemphasis on microtransactions and some cumbersome UI decisions underline everything that's been frustrating about this franchise for the past decade or so. Make no mistake, with crossplay and a wealth of things to do, this is the best shape the series has been in – but we hope EA Sports FC, unshackled from the overbearing eyes of governing body FIFA, brings a little bit more to the field.

FIFA 23 is the perfect goodbye party for the EA Sports franchise. HyperMotion 2.0 is brilliant in portraying intensity, dynamism and hi-tense rhythm football. The gameplay is hectic and engaging, even though quite unbalanced in terms of offensive/defensive action and the goalkeepers AI is quite questionable. If you like offensive football and epic individual duels, FIFA 23 will provide hours of fun both in single and multiplayer, while the "new" Ultimate Teams works great.

One of sports gaming's longest partnerships ends with a shrug of the shoulders. FIFA 23, positively and negatively, doesn't feel like the end of an era. That's mostly because it's hard to see EA revolutionizing the underlying formula after the FIFA license has departed. All in all, FIFA 23 is a solid football spectacle with the same old woes.

FIFA 23 is a fitting end to a great partnership between FIFA and EA. Perhaps the best representation of the real game we have ever had. An excellent send-off for a beloved franchise.

FIFA 23 is the final entry of this footballing franchise under its current iconic name, and it's not really one to remember. While the gameplay continues to strive forward, most of the other new features are rather undercooked and the overall package lacks a bit of polish.

There’s a famous saying from former footballer Gary Lineker that “football is a simple game – 22 men chase a ball for 90 minutes – and at the end, the Germans always win.” I want to make a similar assessment of EA’s yearly soccer game: FIFA 23 is a good game – it’s flashy, fun to play, and has a lot of modes – but in the end, you realize it’s mostly the same game you’ve been playing for years.

EA Sports hangs its shoes keeping the ball low and in a safe pace for FIFA 23. Despite all its faults, new and old, it's still the best way to play a football sim alone or with your friends.

FIFA 23 is a fantastic soccer simulation. A presentation deserved by the next-gen consoles and is close to being groundbreaking. The available game modes are engaging, appealing, and mostly fun. For the last installment in the EA Sports-led FIFA series, it seems appropriate that FIFA 23 goes above and beyond to build upon its already strong fundamentals. There's hope for the future of EA SPORTS FC thanks to the company's Hypermotion technology and other enhancements, which have helped them score big on the field. This last chapter takes a little leap from its predecessors and serves as a fitting send-off to football's most prolific IP. If you're a football/soccer fan, you can't miss playing FIFA 23.

I can safely say that ground is suitable for playing football in FIFA 23's current state. However if we know EA they'll definitely change the game drastically to reshape FUT and I'm not sure if we'll like all those changes. That being said, FIFA 23 is your best option to satiate your hunger while the World Cup is approaching.

The last game in the series to bear the FIFA name is a fittingly unambitious entry. It makes minor changes here and there, but there's not an awful lot to differentiate it from last year's offerings. Thankfully, the on-pitch action is still a hell of a lot of fun.
