Children of Silentown is a beautiful, haunting game. It has a deeper meaning that is unveiled at the end. The ending can be interpreted differently depending on which of the four endings is unlocked. Even though it is a little creepy, it is not so scary that I couldn’t enjoy the game. While I wasn’t a fan of the difficult puzzles, I definitely enjoyed Lucy’s character and the story. If you enjoy point-and-click adventures with a touch of psychological horror, Children of Silentown is the game for you.

Children of Silentown is a point-and-click adventure that, for both good and bad, wouldn’t feel out of place in the catalog of Amanita Design, developers of Machinarum and Botanicula. It strikes a similar mix of striking art, unique music, and classic adventure game mechanics with just a hint of innovation. Yet Children of Silentown appears a distinctively less inspired game than those mentioned above, with no strong theme or thesis to bring the whole experience together.

Children of Silentown is a very solid and enjoyable point and click adventure. While it’s not particularly innovative, or very long, what it lacks in length and originality, it more than makes up for with polish and atmosphere.

Children of Silentown is a fantastic game that conjures imagery of a Tim Burton-esque world. The gorgeous visuals combined with the slow and methodical gameplay create a tight gameplay loop. These facets, interweaved with the fascinating narrative lead to a full experience. Though the slow pace and difficult puzzles may hold some players back, the title rewards players for persistence with an entertaining and intriguing title.

Children of Silentown sinks you into a world that is eerily beautiful. It holds you, not knowing what the night brings or what lurks in the forest – and that’s a good thing.

Children of Silentown is a dark and beautiful tale, that went in directions I wasn’t expecting. It gets surprisingly deep, especially in its final moments. It left me with some unanswered questions, but since there are multiple endings, I’m sure the others will touch upon certain aspects more than the ending I got. I guess I’ll just have to pay it again to find out! For now, I can’t help but sing the praises of Children of Silentown enough to everyone.

Children of Silentown is highly recommendable to anyone who enjoys point-and-click games and narrative-heavy games, but doesn’t go in expecting moon logic puzzles or a funny experience. You won’t get either of those things, but if you want a dark experience set in a quiet town, then Children of Silentown is exactly what you will enjoy.
