There's a fair bit to like about Diablo IV - best-in-class sound design, intriguing character classes, fantastic graphics and occasionally addictive gameplay all feel like the series in its prime. However, even the best parts are let down by an undercurrent of frustrating design choices: the cynical inclusion of a Battle Pass, a bloated open world, repetitive mission structure and progression that too often feels meaningless cast a long shadow that let the latest Diablo title down. Future Seasons may refine what's here, but many of its issues sadly feel baked into the core experience. All but the most die-hard fans may wish to wait for a substantial sale on this one.

Behind the screams and stunningly-costumed demons, this is escapist junk food for gamers – which may be exactly what you're after

For me as a fan of Diablo III, Blizzard's new title is a dream come true and a nightmare at the same time. Diablo IV features a great core of gameplay but the Battle Pass structures and seasonal features somehow let it down. Even the main campaign lacks true excitement unfortunately.

Diablo 4 has bursts of genuine fun in its oppressively gothic world, but as well-made as the entire thing is, it just ends up feeling incredibly sanitized and safe for what’s supposed to be the grand return of the franchise.

Diablo 4 is undoubtedly one of the best games that Blizzard has ever made with a well-written story, though the company's poor handling of post-launch content has dampened what could've been an otherwise phenomenal experience.

Diablo IV remained stuck in the past while trying to find innovation without generating friction with fans who have played the franchise for over two decades; It feels like the ghost of Diablo Immortal continues to haunt the halls of Blizzard. The game is more of a reinvention of the classic experience, focusing on a games-as-a-service format to ensure another decade of content for Diablo.

Diablo 4 will provide dozens, if not hundreds, of hours of entertainment for those seeking a solid action RPG looter. However, some may be left wanting by the story, power fantasy and some of the endgame.

Diablo 4 is bigger, better, and far more sinister than it has been in a long time. As a single player, the campaign gets a little tedious at times, but the big reward comes, as you know, only after that.

In summary, while Diablo IV has been released with a few annoying issues, the gameplay is enjoyable, and I enjoy the story. Unfortunately, the game hasn't been able to keep me invested after the story was complete.

I was mostly enthralled exploring Sanctuary, dungeon-crawling, and wreaking havoc. However, the experience was marred by some spotty online issues, bouts of repetition, and uninspired lore.

Diablo IV is a good APRG as a whole, and the late-game material will keep you coming back for more, and unlike previous Diablo games, it will attract players unfamiliar with the series. However, the quality and popularity of that season's content will determine the show's long-term viability. The core content of Diablo IV is good, and while I believe there's space for improvements and I wish Blizzard had taken some bigger strokes and tried some more original ideas, they still could have used some work. The game is a lot of fun if you're an ARPG fan, and its attention to detail will impress you.

It's more Diablo, as a newer fan it seemed great to jump in at this point, and I can only guess returning fans will enjoy the return to Sanctuary.

Diablo IV brings a more thoughtful story, a darker atmosphere, and a beautiful open world. It takes a little from each of the previous titles in the series to bring the best of each, albeit without any visible innovation. Diablo IV still has its flaws and will be too simple for some, yet its gameplay brings fun for dozens of hours.

Diablo 4 is a bloody plunge into a haunting narrative, an unforgiving world, and exhilarating combat. It skilfully pays homage to its predecessors while daring to venture into new territories, albeit with a few stumbles. Despite its shortcomings, Diablo 4 serves as a feast for fans of action RPGs and dark fantasies alike, rich in replayability and intricate character development. While it might not bring about a heavenly dawn over Sanctuary, it certainly lights up a blazing torch in the inky darkness.

Diablo IV is Diablo as you are used to, but without Diablo. The gaphics are many times better than the predecessor. The open world offers endless possibilities for fun. Will you save Sanctuary from Lilith's clutches?

Diablo 4 is a game that reveals enormous competence in all quarters on the part of Blizzard, and a strong understanding of what a loot-focused dungeon crawler should be. The campaign is a footnote in the overall picture of Diablo 4, but get ready for the core mechanics and the endgame, where you'll easily find yourself surrendering to the gameplay cycle to progress through difficulties and constantly manage the highest risk vs. the greatest reward. The depth and robustness of class management and customization, the activities and the fun of the gameplay make Diablo 4 a very special game.

Diablo IV features a compelling antagonist in Lilith, and while it tries to present more interesting ideas into the series by the way of story, it ends up retreading old ground in more ways than one.
